Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal were tied on 22 slams going into Sunday’s Roland Garros final.

After Novak Djokovic won a record-extending 23rd Grand Slam title on Sunday, Rafael Nadal sent him his congratulations.

After defeating Casper Ruud in the French Open 2023 final in straight sets, Djokovic achieved this feat. Djokovic outmatched Ruud 7-6 (7/1), 6-3, 7-5 in a match that last a little more than three hours.

Before Sunday’s last at Roland Garros, Djokovic was attached on 22 hammers each with Nadal. Djokovic beat the Spaniard at the Australian Open earlier this year to tie the record.

After the match, Nadal, who had been injured and had missed the French Open, thanked Djokovic for “this amazing achievement” on Twitter.

He now has ten titles at the Australian Open, seven at Wimbledon, and three at the US Open, winning Paris for the third time after winning it in 2016 and 2021.

Djokovic is the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four majors at least three times. He is also halfway to the first calendar Grand Slam.

Just Margaret Court and Serena Williams in ladies’ tennis have figured out how to pile up 23 Huge homerun titles. He will now aim to beat Court’s all-time record of 24 at Wimbledon next month.

Djokovic shows little sign of slowing down. He is the oldest person to win the French Open, and he has won 11 Slam titles since he was 30.

He will begin his 388th week in the top spot on Monday, reclaiming the position of world number one.
