On Thursday, February 1, at the YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Team India wicketkeeper KS Bharat will get recognition from the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). Bharat is the second player from the state to play a Test match at his home stadium.
Bharat started practicing with the Andhra domestic squad at the age of eleven after being born in Vishakapatnam. In 2005, he served as a ball boy for the India vs. Pakistan ODI match at the YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
According to ACA secretary Gopinath Reddy, “Yes, we have organized a felicitation ceremony for Bharat,” Cricketnext.com was informed. It will take place on the South Stand’s upper floor, right here in the stadium. We asked for a time for February 2nd, but the administration of the Indian Team gave us a time slot for February 1st, therefore we will be doing the celebration on Thursday.
Only three Andhra players—MSK Prasad and Hanuma Vihari among them—have gone on to represent India in Test matches, including KS Bharat.
The president and secretary of the BCCI are invited to the second Test by the Andhra Cricket Association
Following the ACA’s recent formal invitation, BCCI President Roger Binny and Secretary Jay Shah may also grace the second Test between India and England.
“When we recently convened in Hyderabad, we invited the President and Vice President as well as Mr. Jay Shah Ji, the Secretary of the BCCI. We intend to establish the groundwork for an indoor net here as well as urge their presence here in Vizag. We are optimistic that he would visit us, even if we have not received a confirmation,” Reddy stated.
Like in the series opener in Hyderabad, the Andhra Cricket Association has also announced that schoolchildren will receive free tickets. A respectable number of people attended the first Test, which concluded in the closing moments of the day before the last one.
Two previous Test matches between South Africa and England were held in Vishakapatnam in 2016 and 2019, respectively. Both times, the Men in Blue have emerged triumphant.
After losing the first Test match of the series against England, India will be eager to win three of the four Tests at the location.
