    Alaba was born in Vienna to his parents, Gina and George Alaba, and has one sister who is an experienced recording artist known as Rose May Alaba. 

    International career

    Alaba played for Austria at the under-17 and under-19 as well as the under-21 and under-21 levels. Then, in October of 2009, Alaba was called for the first time to join the Austria national team to play against France. This match made him one of the youngest players in the tradition of the Austrian National team.

    At the age of 19 years, Alaba won the Austrian Footballer of the Year in 2011. In December of 2012, he was awarded the same prize for the second time consecutively. On the 10th of September, 2013 Alaba was the sole member who scored a goal in the game with Ireland in the 84th minute to give Austria a 1-0 win. Alaba scored the goal for Austria’s 3-0 victory in the final game with the Faroe Islands.

    Alaba finished his 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification campaign with the highest score of 6 goals in Austria.

    Alaba scored a ninth-minute penalty kick in the year 2015 to win 4-1 against Sweden in the Friends Arena in Solna. The win enabled Austria to play in UEFA Euro 2016. 

    On the 24th of March, 2017 he became the substitute captain of Austria and won World Cup 2018 qualification game against Moldova with a 2-0 win.

    Alaba played for Austria in its participation in UEFA Euro 2020, in which they advanced to the knockout stage of the tournament for the first time in their football history.
