Albert Pujols – wiki, stats, net worth, birthday, age, contract, total home runs, career

Albert Pujols – wiki: José Alberto Pujols Alcántara was born on the 16th of January in the year 1980. He is a Dominican-born American who plays first base and is the designated hitter for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball.  He was known as “The Machine” and spent his first 11 seasons in MLB with the Cardinals. After that, he played for more than nine seasons with the Los Angeles Angels and then for half a season with the Los Angeles Dodgers. With St. Louis, Pujols was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the National League (NL) three times (2005, 2008, and 2009) and an All-Star nine times (2001, 2003–2010). After joining the Angels in 2012, he was an All-Star just once, in 2015. In 2022, when he went back to the St. Louis Cardinals, he was chosen as an all-star again.

    More Bout Pujols

Born in the Dominican Republic, Pujols moved to the U.S. in 1996. After playing baseball in college for one year, the Cardinals picked him in the 13th round of the MLB draft in 1999. In 2001, when he was a rookie for the Cardinals, he was chosen as the NL Rookie of the Year by all of the teams. Pujols played regularly for the Cardinals and helped them win the World Series in 2006 and 2011. After the 2011 season, Albert Pujols was a free agent and signed a 10-year deal with the Angels. However, the Angels sent Pujols to another team at the start of the 2021 season. Not long after that, the Dodgers signed him. On the 28th of March, 2022, Albert Pujols signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals. This would be his conclusive season in these major leagues.

    High Career

At the peak of his career, Pujols was known as a good hitter who had “a combination of contact hitting ability, patience, and raw power.” He has won the Silver Slugger award six times and has led the National League in home runs, batting average, doubles, and RBIs. He is one of only five players in MLB history to have more than 2,000 RBIs. He has had 14 seasons with 100 or more RBIs. During the 2020 season, he will pass Alex Rodriguez for third place on the official all-time list. In 2018, Pujols got his 3,000th hit, making him the 32nd player in Major League Baseball history to reach that mark. He also joined Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and Alex Rodriguez as the fourth player to get 3,000 hits and 600 home runs. By 2022, he will be the oldest MLB player still playing.

    Albert Pujols The Beginning

Pujols’s childhood was mostly spent with his grandmother Dominican Republic. He had no siblings. His father, Bienvenido Pujols, was a pitcher for softball who had problems with drinking. When his dad got drunk after games, Pujols often had to drive him home. Pujols used limes as baseballs and a milk carton as a glove when he was a kid. In 1996, Pujols, his father, and his grandmother came to the United States. They moved to New York City’s Washington Heights, where Pujols saw a shooting at a bodega. They moved to Independence, Missouri, two months later to live with relatives, partly because of the shooting.

At Fort Osage High School in Independence, Pujols played baseball and was named to the All-State team twice. As a senior, he was intentionally walked 55 times, but he still hit eight home runs in 33 opportunities. In addition, he hit a home run that went 450 feet (140 m). After graduating high school a semester early in December 1998, Maple Woods Community College gave him a baseball scholarship. In the first game of his only college season, Pujols hit a grand slam and turned a triple play by himself. As a freshman, he played shortstop and hit .461 with 22 home runs. He then decided to enter the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft.

    Albert Pujols How Pujols Plays

People have said that Pujols’ swing is always the same. Lance Berkman, a former teammate, once said, “It’s the same swing every time.” “He can repeat his swing over and over again, which makes him very consistent,” said Chad Blair, who is in charge of video for the Cardinals. Daniel G. Habib wrote in Sports Illustrated that the swing was “quick” and “quiet.” When facing right-handed pitchers, Albert Pujols uses a 32.5-ounce bat, but when facing left-handed pitchers, he uses a 33-ounce bat, so he doesn’t try to pull the ball when he swings. He has said that learning what pitchers will do in different counts and situations helped him hit better.

    Albert Pujols Successes

As of 2021, Albert Pujols is third all-time in runs batted in for the major leagues, behind only Henry Aaron and Babe Ruth. He is one of only four players (the others are Aaron, Stan Musial, and Willie Mays) to have more than 6,000 total bases, and he is fifth all-time in home runs and doubles. In 2009, Pujols set the record for most assists in a single season in the major leagues. He had 185. Many of his teammates and coaches have given him high points. In 2008, all 30 MLB managers voted him the batter they were most afraid of. Many sports writers have said that Albert Pujols is almost certain to get into the Hall of Fame.

    Personal life

The couple got married on the 1st of January, 2000. They are parents to five kids. Pujols is a firm believer in evangelical Christianity. On the 13th of November, 1998, he became an evangelical Christian. Deidre and his grandmother were two of the people who influenced him. Pujols helps people with Down syndrome because his own daughter, Isabella, was born with it. Pujols is good friends with Plácido Polanco, a third baseman who used to play for the Cardinals. Polanco has said that Pujols is his “closest friend in baseball,” and Pujols is Ishmael’s godfather.
