On January 9, the defending champions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Comilla Victorians (COV), will play Sylhet Strikers (SYL) at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. With a remarkable eight-wicket victory over Chattogram Challengers, the Strikers kicked off the season. The team won by a massive 195 runs in their second match thanks to some outstanding cricket.
Their batters were phenomenal, with opener Najmul Hossain Shanto scoring 48 runs in 40 innings and Towhid Hridoy scoring 55 runs in 34 innings. They bowled flawlessly in the first game, but they failed to impress in the second. While fast bowler Mohammad Amir didn’t take any wickets, veteran Mushrafe Mortaza took three but lost a lot of runs.
On the other hand, Comilla lost their first game because their batters didn’t hit in the middle. Rangpur Riders defeated them by 34 runs despite Skipper Imrul Kayes’ lone effort of 35 runs. They have some good bowlers in Mustafizur Rahman, Mohammad Nabi, and Fazalhaq Farooqi.
However, none of them were able to help the team put pressure on the opponent, so the Riders won easily in the previous match.
