On the shirts, flags, and banners of Brazilian fans who were gathered prior to the Seleçao’s World Cup match against South Korea on Monday, the image of a young Pelé celebrating goals and lifting trophies with Brazil’s national team was prominent.

The 82-year-old Pelé said he would watch the match on television while he was recovering in a hospital in Sao Paulo from a COVID-19-aggravated respiratory infection.

At Stadium 974, Brazilian fans raised a large banner with his image behind one of the goals in the 10th minute of each half, referring to the No.chanted his name and donned the 10 jersey he used to wear.

Pelé was depicted with the white No in the image.10 shirt that he wore when he played soccer for Santos in Brazil.

Neymar carried a banner with the words “Pelé” and the image of the soccer great following Brazil’s 4-1 victory.

After that, the entire team posed in front of it near midfield.

The early Monday news from Brazil was positive

The soccer great was not in imminent danger of death, according to two of his daughters and one of his grandchildren.

It was cause for celebration for the numerous Brazilians who had been supporting Pelé in Qatar and cheering on the Selecao.

Raphael Bissonho, a fan of Brazil who is 35 years old, stated,

“We are all happy to hear that he is getting better.”He is our soccer’s most iconic figure—the King of Football.

He is the best person to represent Brazil.

We sincerely hope that he will soon be released from the hospital and able to show us a picture of him watching the national team on television.

Last year, Pelé had a tumor removed from his colon; however, neither his family nor the hospital has indicated whether the tumor has spread.

On Monday, a few thousand people gathered at the Brazilian fans’ gathering place in Doha to support the team during the round of 16 match against South Korea.

To watch the game, a lot of people went to Stadium 974.

Alexandre Carola, 44, a Santos fan who traveled from Sao Paulo to watch Brazil play, stated, “Everyone is thinking and talking about him.”

We are here to pray and hope that he will recover quickly.

And I’m sure that when he watches the game on television and sees the movement to wish him well and send him energy.

It will give him more strength to recover and soon return home to his friends and family.

In addition, there was a show of support prior to the game against Cameroon last week, when it became known that Pelé had been admitted to the hospital.

At Doha Bay, during a drone show, a large Brazilian flag bearing the number.

The number 10 and the message “Get well soon, Pelé” were displayed on it.

With Brazil, Pelé won three World Cups in 1958, 1962, and 1970.In 1994 and 2002, the Selecao also won the championship.

With 77 goals, Pelé leads Brazil officials in goals scored, one more than Neymar, who scored in the first half against South Korea after returning from an injury to his right ankle.
