At this time, he is serving as a member of the National Hockey League team the Calgary Flames (NHL). The Detroit Red Wings selected Jarnkrok in the 51st and final slot of the overall draught during the 2010 NHL Entry Round.

    A professional playing career:

After having a strong second half of the 2009–10 season, during which he earned a regular roster spot on Brynas IF, Jarnkrok moved up the Central Scouting rankings for the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He went from being ranked 21st among European Skaters in the midterm rankings to being ranked 4th among European Skaters in the final rankings.

This was due to the fact that he earned a regular roster spot during the second half of the season. Because of this, he was able to advance to the fourth overall spot in the draught. He was chosen by the Detroit Red Wings in the second round of the National Hockey League Entry Draft in 2010, at the 51st overall position.

After participating in twenty-eight games during the 2010–11 season, Jarnkrok was selected to be one of the four candidates for the Elitserien Rookie of the Year award. He was ultimately given this honour. Jarnkrok had the most points among all junior players thanks to his eight goals and nine assists, and he was chosen as the player that had the most points overall.

When the Detroit Red Wings traded David Legwand to the Nashville Predators on March 5, 2014, Jarnkrok was one of the players whom they shipped to Nashville in exchange for Legwand. Patrick Eaves was the other player that had to be substituted. At the time, the Milwaukee Admirals served as the affiliate team for the Nashville Predators in the American Hockey League (AHL).

He was offered a position with the Admirals and accepted it. Jarnkrok made his debut with the National Hockey League (NHL) on March 21, 2014, and he contributed an assist in his first game. When he was playing against Matt Hackett of the Buffalo Sabres on March 27, 2014, he scored his first goal in the National Hockey League. The game was a tie.

The 2014–15 season was Jarnkrok’s debut in the National Hockey League as a full-time player, and he participated in 74 games during that season.

During that particular season, he was responsible for seven goals and eleven assists. It was the second-longest point streak by a Predators player in the first games of their NHL career, the longest point streak being Marek Idlick’s six-game streak from October 9–23, 2003, which was the longest point streak by a Predators player in the first games of their NHL career. He started his career in the National Hockey League with two goals and seven assists in his first 12 games, including five points across his first five games in the league.

On July 17, 2015, the Predators brought Jarnkrok back to the team by re-signing him to a one-year contract. This brought him back to the Predators organisation. On July 26, 2016, the Nashville Predators re-signed Jarnkrok to a contract, this time giving him a deal that will pay him a total of $12 million over the course of six years.

After playing his eighth season with the Predators after the pandemic delayed the 2020–21 campaign, Jarnkrok was left exposed by Nashville and selected by the Seattle Kraken on July 21, 2021 during the NHL Expansion Draft.

This occurred after playing his eighth season with the Predators after the pandemic delayed the 2020–21 campaign. After Jarnkrok had already participated in his eighth season with the Predators, this event took occurred.

The transaction that sent Jarnkrok to the Calgary Flames took place on March 16, 2022, which was five days prior to the expiration of the trading window. In return for Jarnkrok, the Florida Panthers were given a selection in the second round in 2022, a selection in the third round in 2023, and a selection in the seventh round in 2024.

    Personal life

The Carolina Hurricanes used the fifth overall pick in the NHL Entry Draft in 2013 to select Elias Lindholm, who is presently playing for the Calgary Flames and is Jarnkrok’s cousin.

The Hurricanes took Elias Lindholm. Jarnkrok is Mikael Lindholm’s nephew, which makes Mikael Lindholm Jarnkrok’s uncle.
