With his outstanding IPL performances for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Ravichandran Ashwin rose to prominence. He was with the team from the start and did well under MS Dhoni. Because of his impact, he quickly became India’s primary spinner across all three formats and became one of the best Indian Test bowlers.

Even while playing for the Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and now the Rajasthan Royals (RR), Ashwin has always had a good time at his home stadium, the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

He recently demonstrated his skill and ability to win matches on the spin-friendly Chennai surface. In RR’s last match against the Chennai Super Rulers, Ashwin by and by stood apart with his amazing bowling. He scored 2/25 runs in four overs at the end.

We investigate R Ashwin’s best exhibitions in Chennai in the IPL throughout the long term:

    3) 3 for 16 vs KKR, 2010

Sourav Ganguly, captain of KKR, chose to bat first in Chennai on a difficult surface, but the team’s fortunes quickly deteriorated. Ashwin made an immediate impression when he joined the attack early in the game.

Chris Gayle was fooled by him as the West Indian danced down the track, but the turn and bounce beat him. Behind the stumps, MS Dhoni completed the remainder. He kept the pressure on and eventually bowled David Hussey and Brendon McCullum. KKR only managed to score 139 runs because none of their batters could read Ashwin’s variations.

In response, Suresh Raina’s counter-attacking knock of 78 off 39 deliveries helped CSK win comfortably with nine wickets remaining.

    2) 3 for 16 vs RCB, 2011

In the 2011 IPL final, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced a formidable Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batting lineup led by Chris Gayle, who had scored 608 runs in the tournament.

With a short-of-length delivery that turned away from Gayle and forced him to play inside the line, Ashwin started the bowling. Ashwin induced an outside edge off Gayle’s bat with a change in pace on the third delivery, dismissing him early. As RCB’s batting lineup fell apart, the wicket proved to be crucial, and they lost the match by 58 runs.

After that, Ashwin went on to eliminate Daniel Vettori and Mayank Agarwal, putting an end to RCB’s hopes of winning the final. As a result, CSK won the tournament by a total of 58 runs.

    1) 3 for 23 vs Delhi Daredevils, 2012

In the 2012 IPL, Chennai Super Kings faced Delhi Daredevils in the second qualifier. With a crushing century, Murali Vijay led Chennai. With a score of 113 from 58 balls, he helped CSK to a staggering 222 for 5 score.

Accordingly, Delhi never got rolling and when Ashwin chose to twirl a web around the Delhi hitters, the outcome was an inevitable result. Ashwin took three wickets for 23 runs and bowled out Andre Russell, Mahela Jayawardene, and Umesh Yadav. CSK won by 86 runs over Delhi to advance to the IPL playoffs.
