    The Commonwealth Games 2022 are going on here in Birmingham, England from 28 July to 8 August. All commonwealth countries are ready to take part in the current edition of CWG. Indians players are also ready to celebrate this year’s Independence Day on the soil of Britain.

    The Indian Women’s cricket team is all set to play their opening match against World Champion Australia in the Commonwealth Games 2022. Cricket is going back in the CWG. The women’s cricket is going to participate first time in the event.

    India is in Pool A

    In the Commonwealth Games 2022, 8 cricket teams are participating, which are placed in two groups. The Indian team is present in pool A. Here along with the Indian team, the team of current world champion Australia, arch-rival Pakistan, and Barbados is present.

    India will miss the service of Pooja Vastrakar in 1st match

    Indian young all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar is unable to play in today’s match due to being Covid-19 positive. Pooja has been in very good form recently and is the only fast bowling all-rounder in the Indian team.

    The Commonwealth Games sports tournament held every 4 years. This event is the third largest sports event after the Asian Games. The first edition of the Commonwealth Games was in the Canadian city of Hamilton in 1930. At the same time, India participated in the commonwealth games for the first time in 1934. At that time name of the tournament was the British Empire Games.
