Rishabh Pant is currently undergoing rehabilitation after a car accident, so veteran Australian batsman David Warner was named captain of Delhi Capitals on Thursday.
The Delhi team’s vice-captain will be India’s all-rounder Axar Patel, who also held that position last year. On March 31, IPL 2023 begins.
DC also named Sourav Ganguly, a former captain of India and former chief of the BCCI, Director of Cricket for the franchise. In the past, Ganguly also served as a mentor for the Delhi Capitals during the 2019 season.

The naming of Warner as DC commander was on anticipated lines after pant who drove the group from the 2021 season met with a terrible auto crash in late December and effectively went through a knee tendon tear during a medical procedure in Mumbai.
Warner is currently in India for the ODI portion of Australia’s tour, which begins on Friday in Mumbai. With 5881 runs from 162 matches in his 13 seasons since 2009, he is one of the IPL’s most prolific batters.

Warner began his IPL career with the Delhi franchise in 2009 when the team was called Delhi Daredevils. He has an average of 42.01 and a strike rate of 14. In 2013, he served as the team’s interim captain for a few games before being acquired by Sunrise Hyderabad the following year.
In terms of wins, he ranks joint fifth most successful captain. Warner’s teams won 35 of the 69 matches he led, lost 32, and tied two.
After a bad IPL season in 2021, Warner went back to the Delhi franchise in 2022. He had a bad relationship with the Sunriser’s management. He scored 432 runs at an average of 48 and a healthy strike rate of 150.52, including five half-centuries, making him DC’s leading run-getter in the most recent IPL.
The explosive 36-year-old opener had a difficult time in the two Tests he played against India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
In his three innings, he scored 26 runs before being removed from the second match in Delhi because of a concussion. He then, at that point, got back to recuperate from a hairline crack in his elbow. Ganguly, on the other hand, stated that he is thrilled to be back with the Delhi Capitals.
