James Michael Anderson OBE was born on the 30th of July 1982. He is an international cricketer from England. He plays for Lancashire County Cricket Club and the England national cricket team.

He plays the role of a part-time cricket commentator for the BBC. Among fast bowlers, Anderson is the leading wicket-taker of all time at the Test cricket level. He is the only fast bowler who took 600 or more Test wickets. Among all types of bowlers, he is ranked as the third-highest wicket-taker.

He has to his name the record for the most wickets taken by an England player in ODI cricket. In June 2021, he appeared for the 162nd time for England in Test cricket. Anderson reached the title of England’s most capped player.

He played nearly 200 One Day Internationals in his career. He is among the greatest swing bowlers in the history of cricket.

Anderson made his international debut at the end of the year 2002. He debuted on England’s winter tour of Australia. He played his first Test match against the Zimbabwe team.

His early career faced a lot of difficulties due to injuries. His injuries included a stress fracture of the back. This fracture kept him out of action for most of the 2006 season. After recovery, he established himself as the key opening bowler in the England team Test format.

He was a regular strike bowler when he played for the national one-day side. But he never participated in the shorter format at the international level since the 2015 World Cup.

Anderson has to his name the title of first English bowler to reach 400, 500, and 600 wickets in Test matches. As of June 2022, he stands at the 7th position in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings. He has previously made it to the top between 2016 and 2018. In July 2021, in the County Championship, Anderson bagged his 1,000th first-class wicket.
