    Faf du Plessis first captaincy assignment in the IPL

    Finally, Royal challengers Bangalore (RCB) announced the name of their new captain.
    The former South African skipper Fab du Plessis is named as a new captain of RCB. Du Plessis become seventh RCB captain after, Rahul Dravid(2008), Kevin Pietersen(2009), Anil Kumble(2009-2010), Denial Vettori(2011-2012), Virat Kohli (2011-2012), and Shane Watson(2017, as a substitute when Virat injured). Fab du Plessis took over the captaincy from Virat Kohli, last year in September announced that he is leaving captaincy in IPL from next season.     Out of all the RCB captains, Virat Kohli led the team for the most number of matches. Virat led RCB in – 140 matches in which he won 64 matches and looses 69 of them, and 3 matches tie and 4 got no results, he has a win percentage of 48.16%. New skipper Du Plessis has no experience of leading an IPL franchise, this is the first he is going to lead any franchise in the Indian Premier League. But, he is coming from the shadow of captain cool, MS Dhoni. So, definitely, he got some skills of the leading team in IPL from him.

    RCB is one of the best teams since the Indian Premier League started, but unfortunately, RCB didn’t win any IPL trophy yet. RCB had great leaders like Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Virat Kohli to led the side but they failed to win the title.

    Now, fans are looking towards the new RCB skipper Fab du Plessis as hope to get their first maiden IPL trophy. Fab can win the title for the team as he has those skills of leading, he has Virat Kohli with him. So, this is time Fab can do what fans expect.

    Leading a franchise in the IPL is the first captaincy assignment of Faf du Plessis. Yes, he led several teams before including the national team of South Africa, and some franchise teams in another cricket league.

    Fab du Plessis led South Africa after the retirement of AB de Villiers, He was captain for Africa in 37 international T20i in which he won 23 matches. He led the team in 39 ODIs and won 28 matches. And he led the team in Test cricket also in which he won 17 matches and played 3 draws out of 32 matches.

    In the other 20 over format leagues, he has been captain for 79 matches in which he won 43 matches with a win percentage of 55.76%.

    Fab du plessis as a batsman for RCB

    Fab du Plessis is the fantastic batsman and a terrific fielder RCB had got. He has 2,935 runs in 100 IPL matches (in 93 innings), with an average of 34.94 and a strike rate of 131.08. Fab smashed 22 half-centuries in his IPL career.
    2021 was a great year for him as he scored 633 runs in the season and finished on number two in the list of highest run-getter in the season. With the help of his outstanding innings and opening partnerships with Ruturaj Gaikwad CSK won the title in 2021.
    Hope his form will continue and help RCB to win their first IPL title under his captaincy.
