    Faf du Plessis is a right-handed batsman and right-arm leg break bowler who plays in the middle order, performing his main task as a middle order bat.

    Currently, Hashim Amla holds the South African record for scoring centuries in three formats of cricket. In addition to this, he is also the second batsman to captain a team to a century score in all three formats of cricket.

    Faf du Plessis is the South African who scored the second highest individual run of 185, exceeded the record for playing the most innings before scoring a duck in international cricket, also played a Test match in which he declared at 259/9, and holds a record of 100/0 earning him an unbeaten century.

    Faf du Plessis, who has the record for fifty-plus scores in a Test match and is among the South African cricket team’s esteemed captains and cricketers, was named the 2019 Men’s Player of the Year by South Africa Cricket Association. He was also declared player of the year for 2011.

    In domestic cricket, AB plays for Northerns and has scored 8385 runs in First Class Matches. He One of the most famous South African cricket players, Faf du Plessis made his debut in Test matches on November 22, 2012 against Australia.

    Du Plessis has amassed 3750 consecutive runs averaging 41. He has scored nine centuries to date, and averages more than his career average at home. Du Plessis has also taken 56 catches in 61 matches.

    One Day International debut, 18 January 2011: Du Plessis scored 60 runs for South Africa against India. In 143 matches, he made 5507 runs with an average of 47 and had 12 centuries and 35 half centuries.

    Faf du Plessis debuted in the T20I against England on 8 September 2012 and rose to the position of captain for the Proteas. 

    Faf du Plessis started his cricket career in 2008, when he made his county cricket debut for Lancashire. He was forced to end the contract with them though since the rules no longer allowed foreign players to participate. He ended up starting his cricket career as a part time IPL player for Chennai Super Kings, where he scored 398 runs.

    During the Mzansi Super League 2018, he was the leading scorer for Paarl Rocks. He also has been a part of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League, although it went less than successful on his side.

    Captaincy: Faf du Plessis became the captain after AB de Villiers retired and has led South Africa in 32 Test matches. With 17 victories under his belt, he has a success rate of more than 50 percent. He has only drawn three matches and prefers to outsmart his opponents rather than outscore them.

    Faf du Plessis has led South Africa in 39 ODIs and 28 of them have been wins. Similarly, Faf du Plessis has led South Africa in 37 T20Is and 23 of them have been wins. Du Plessis is one of the best captains in the world after AB de Villiers, who retired recently, and he has a high performance level.
