Fans react to Mohammad Rizwan’s brave knock on Day 1 of the third Test between Australia and Pakistan
On Day 1 of the third Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday, Pakistan’s wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan performed a clutch knock under duress.
Pakistan was given the toss and chose to bat first. They got off to a bad start, though, with openers Abdullah Shafique and Saim Ayub out for ducks.
When Rizwan stepped out to bat, the visitors were in a dangerous situation, down by 47 runs. He pulled the ship out of troubled waters for his squad, putting up a crucial 94-run sixth-wicket partnership with Agha Salman.
Rizwan scored 88 runs off 103 balls, falling just short of a well-deserved century. Australian captain Pat Cummins dismissed the right-handed batsman.
In the Australia Test series, Mohammad Rizwan was not Pakistan’s first-choice keeper-batter
Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was chosen over Mohammad Rizwan for the wicketkeeper-batter post in Pakistan’s first Test against Australia in Perth.
Given Rizwan’s stronger track record in SENA nations (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia), the selection raised numerous eyebrows. Sarfaraz failed to capitalize on his opportunity, scoring only seven runs in two innings as Pakistan lost the Test by 360 runs.
For the second Test in Melbourne, Rizwan came in for Sarfaraz. He got off to a good start in both innings, scoring 42 and 35 runs, respectively. Shan Masood and company, on the other hand, were defeated by 79 runs.

Australia won the three-match series with an insurmountable 2-0 lead. Pakistan will want to save face by winning the third and final Test. It’s worth noting that they haven’t won a Test match in Australia since 1995-96.
