    1. In Wimbledon 2022, the Spaniard’s warrior nature was never more apparent than throughout their quarterfinal matchup with Fritz. Even though his father and sister Maribel from the seats begged him to change course after he had an abdominal injury during the game, he refused. Despite clearly feeling discomfort during the stroke, he managed to block the large American’s serve and forehand rather effectively.
    • Having won three Grand Slams before, Rafael Nadal entered the 2011 Australian Open victorious. But in the quarterfinals, he fell short against his countryman Ferrer, 6-4, 6-2, 6-3. With a leg injury, he was forced to take a medical time-out with a 0–3 deficit in the third set. During one point in the match, Nadal broke down in tears, and he occasionally struggled to track down the ball.
    • With a 20-match winning streak, the Spaniard faced Taylor Fritz in the Indian Wells final. A few months prior, he had won the Australian Open. During his quarterfinal match against Carlos Alcaraz, he suffered a pectoral injury. Due to the injury, the Spaniard was forced to consult a physician halfway through the game. He was having trouble making his shots.
    • Two of the most competitive players in contemporary tennis squared off for the ultimate reward in what was an extremely dramatic encounter. To win the championship, Wawrinka defeated the Spaniard 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. The encounter was noteworthy, nonetheless, because of the challenges Nadal faced in order to win.
    • The Spaniard, who was returning to action after a year away, defeated Jason Kubler and Dominic Thiem in his opening two encounters in Brisbane. But in the third set of the match against Thompson, he appeared to have a problem with his upper left leg and required medical care.
