Former Cricketers praise Sanju Samson’s smashing scores in 1st ODI: India is currently playing an ODI series against South Africa with Shikhar Dhawan as a captain. In the first ODI India failed to clinch the victory despite a good knock by Sanju Samson.
The ODI series is another chance for Sanju Samson to prove his worth to team India. He did not let the opportunity go and delivered a good knock against South Africa. It is one of the best-ever ODI scores for Sanju. However, he failed to take India past the victory line.
On Thursday in Lucknow, Sanju Samson was praised by the Legends of the game after his terrific knock.
Earlier this year Rohit Sharma stated that Sanju Samsung would be a great option for India in Australia’s conditions for the T20 World Cup. However, he was not given a chance. Sanju Samson received many opportunities in the IPL as the captain of the Rajasthan Royals. But he received Limited opportunities after the IPL. He has been excluded from the Asia Cup as well as the T20 World Cup squad. Therefore, the ODI series is a great chance for Sanju to prove himself.
India lost despite scores by Sanju and Shreyas
In the opening match of the T20 Series India lost their openers early in the powerplay. Later with the partnership of Shreyas Iyer and Sanju the Indian team was able to build the innings and provide some stability to the score.
Both of them put scores on the board before Shreyas Iyer was dismissed after his half-century. Then Sanju Samson along with Shardul Thakur played a terrific knock. Shardul Thakur had a good day with the ball as well as the bat. He took 2 wickets with 35/8. Thakur Smashed 5 boundaries in 33 runs off 31 balls.
In addition, Sanju began his innings with boundaries and sixes. However, the target was too far for India. Despite the best efforts by Sanju Samson with an unbeaten 83 of 63 balls, India lost by 9 runs.
Right after the match, former cricketers like Irfan Pathan, Ian Bishop, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh, and Mohammed Kaif took to Twitter To praise Sanju.
In the post-match presentation, captain Shikhar Dhawan says “quite proud of the way the boys play the game. We did not get a good start. However, Shreyas, Samson, and Shardul performance is excellent. We gave away many runs, wickets, and fielding was not great. But this was a good learning experience for all of us
