Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, recently said that the FIFA World Cup in 2022 is the best ever because of the great matches and the record number of people attending. He added that this World Cup has multiple billion onlookers and without precedent for history, groups from each landmass were available in the round of 16.

Let’s take a look at why this World Cup has been so successful.

Expected names in international football exerted their attacking authority on teams, resulting in numerous goals being scored during this World Cup.

Spain was the only World Cup team to score seven goals in a single match, while England and Portugal each scored six. Several games in which Costa Rica was outscored by at least four goals were against them.

The following are the major World Cup scorelines:

    England (6) vs Iran (2)

    France (4) vs Australia (1)

Spain (7) vs Costa Rica (0)

    Croatia (4) vs Canada (1)

    Cameroon (3) vs Serbia (3)

Germany (4) vs Costa Rica (2)

Brazil (4) vs South Korea (1)

    Portugal (6) vs Switzerland (1)

    #3 Group Stage upset

    Argentina Vs Saudi Arabia :

Saudi Arabia, on the other hand, prevailed over Argentina 2-1, scoring the winner in the 53rd minute and equalizing in the 48th. The match will live on in history books.

Saudi’s victory over Argentina, considered one of the favorites to win the trophy, was significant. The Saudi Arabian President even declared a national holiday the following day.

Germany won a penalty kick against Japan in the 33rd minute thanks to Gundogan’s goal. Germany was widely anticipated to easily defeat Japan, but the Samurai Blue had other ideas.

They were successful in securing a historic victory over Germany, defeating them 2-1, with the game-winning goal coming in the 83rd minute and the 75th-minute scoring equalizer.
Despite being considered one of the favorites to win any competition they participate in, Germany lost their opening World Cup match.

    Portugal vs. South Korea:

Everyone expected Portugal to be the first team at this World Cup to win their first group game. Notwithstanding, South Korea contended energetically and figured out how to win against them with a 2-1 scoreline.

Despite the fact that Portugal lost against South Korea, they figured out how to top their gathering as they won their past games in general.

    Brazil vs. Cameroon:

Cameroon won this match to make history as they defeated Brazil, a football powerhouse. Vincent Aboubakar of Cameroon scored the game’s lone goal to make the score 1-0.
Cameroon lost to Brazil to become the first African nation to win the World Cup.

Germany had one of the worst World Cups ever. They won only one of their three group-stage games, against Costa Rica, which was not enough for them to advance to the round of 16.

Spain’s only victory over Costa Rica was a huge 7-0 victory. They were successful in qualifying for the round of 16, but they were eliminated on penalties after losing to Morocco in the round of 16.
Another team at this World Cup that disappointed fans is Belgium. They were able to beat Canada, but that wasn’t enough to get them into the round of 16.

    #1 Underdogs reach the semifinals

Morocco defeated Belgium and Canada to advance to the round of 16 and drew with Croatia.
They won on penalties over Spain in the Round of 16 and made it to the quarterfinals, where they had to face Portugal again, a big challenge.

Morocco became the first African team to reach the World Cup semifinals after defeating Portugal 1-0 to advance to the next round. They were the first African team to make it to the World Cup semi-finals, where they will play France.

Morocco is currently favored by fans all over the world to win the World Cup.
Croatia beat Canada and drew with Belgium and Morocco to advance to the round of 16 of the tournament.

They won a penalty shootout against Japan and made it to the quarterfinals, where they had to face Brazil, their biggest challenge yet. Croatia won the tournament once more and defeated Brazil on penalties to advance to the semifinals.

With the intention of qualifying for consecutive World Cup finals, Croatia will now face Argentina on December 13, 2022, in the semi-finals.
Argentina and France, two of the remaining four teams, are considered favorites. The entire world is rooting for either Croatia or Morocco to win, the other two being the underdogs.
