On Tuesday, the minister of state for sports in Haryana, Sandeep Singh, made an announcement in the assembly that the state government will provide a monetary reward of 15 lakh rupees to each of the athletes who competed in the Birmingham Commonwealth Games (CWG) and placed fourth. This reward will be provided by the state government.

The minister was quoted as saying that athletes competing in any sport who come in fourth place put in the same amount of effort as those athletes who come in the first place.

As a direct consequence of this, the state government has come to the conclusion that it is appropriate to honour athletes of this calibre with a monetary reward of 15 lakh rupees in appreciation of the accomplishments that they have attained.

    Levels

According to what he stated, the state government has already started giving out monetary awards to players who win gold, silver, or bronze as well as those who participate at the national and international levels. Those who compete at the state level will also be eligible for the prize. On Tuesday, members of the legislature extended their congratulations to athletes from the state who had excelled at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

According to Manohar Lal Khattar, the Chief Minister of Haryana, India won a total of 61 medals at the Commonwealth Games (CWG), including 22 gold medals, and Haryana players got nine of the gold medals. Of the 61 medals, India won 22 gold medals.

The Chief Minister made these remarks in response to the motion that the Leader of the Opposition, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, had put forward in order to honour the players of the state on the second day of the monsoon session that is currently taking place in the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.

All of the members of the Legislative Assembly, including the Speaker, Gian Chand Gupta, as well as the Leader of the Opposition, BS Hooda, lauded the players for bringing honour not only to the state but also to the country with their performance.
