    With almost every player performing well, the problem of plenty which the selectors, chief coach Rahul Dravid, and captain Rohit Sharma have been facing for a while has multiplied.

    Not just selectors and team management, this winning squad sequence has kept several players on edge about their prospects of making the cut for the WC. The intense contest for places in the squad has increased with every match.

    The All-India Senior Selection Committee has finally revealed India’s squad for the Asia Cup 2022. The Asia Cup 2022 is set to be played from 27th August to 11th September 2022.

    The 15th edition of the tournament is set to be played in the United Arab Emirates. This tournament will be contested between six teams (main event). Defending champions India are the most successful team who won the trophy seven times. While the last edition of the tournament was played in an ODI format, this edition will be in the T20 format.

    • Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel were unavailable for selection owing to injuries. They are in rehab at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

    • Three players Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel, and Deepak Chahar have made to the list of standbys.

    The Asia Cup seems to settle the selection issue for India’s selectors. It’s a multi-nation tournament. Most teams who will participate in this tournament will also be in Australia when the World Cup begins in late October.

    Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh are the other big names in the contest. But even rookies in Afghanistan are a huge threat in this format. So every team should be taken seriously.

    This seems to be an opportunity for India’s players to get familiar with those from other teams. They can make mental notes of their strengths and weaknesses. The team can understand their tactics. The team can work out a playbook. All these strategies can help them win the most important title in this format.
