Pakistan, making its debut in the tournament, was playing for the first time.

Both the winning side’s captain, Hayley Matthews, and wicket-keeper batter Kycia Knight were the standout players of the match because both of them scored fifty runs.

On the losing side, Pakistan’s Nida Dar’s unbeaten fifty in just 31 balls was the only remarkable innings.

The final tally was that Barbados had received 15 runs.

    Barbados Innings: 144/4 (20)

    Kycia Knight – 62* | Fatima Sana – 2/41

    Pakistan Innings: 129/6 (20)

After winning the coin toss, Barbados decided they would go into the batting order first.

    Shaky start

After getting off to a shaky start, during which Deandra Dottin was knocked out in the first round by Diana Baig, Knight joined Matthews and the two of them forged a crucial relationship. The partnership grew from fifty to one hundred members.

Matthews was dismissed for a second time by Fatima Sana, who did so for 51 runs off 50 balls.

Knight was accompanied by her identical twin sister Kyshona Knight, and then Kyshona Knight left for 9. Kycia brought about the long-awaited and much-needed finish for Barbados.

Sana took two wickets for Pakistan although Pakistan’s economy rate was more than 10, and he let runs slip between his fingers. Baig, who took one wicket, was only given two overs to bowl, which is a bit strange.

Iram Javed was out on a duck after being struck by a ball bowled by Shamilia Connell off the first delivery as Pakistan was attempting to chase down 145 runs.

This was not the start that Pakistan had hoped for. Both Omaima Sohail and Muneeba Ali got off to a good start with a few boundaries, but quickly Omaima was run out on 10(14), and dot ball pressure with skipper Bismah struggling saw Muneeba Ali depart for 17(18).

    Spun out

After Hayley Matthews impacted with the run-out and spun out Ali, Omaima was run out on 10(14).

There was, at last, a pleasant barrier in Bismah’s path, yet she was unable to advance since one other run-out introduced a finish to her struggles on 12. (28).

Nida Dar was successful in hitting a couple of boundaries, and fortunately for Pakistan, she capped it off with a much-needed 18-run over off of Connell.

On the other end of the pitch, Aliya Riaz was having a difficult time scoring runs. As Pakistan inched closer to reaching 100 in the seventeenth over, a 50-run stand between the two of them was completed off of 35 balls.

Aliya Riaz’s struggle on 14(24) brought an end to the game in the penultimate over, while the final over saw Nida Dar get to her 50 off of 31 balls, causing Pakistan to fall short by 15 runs in their attempt to chase 144.

Hayley Matthews of Barbados took the most wickets with 1-13 in 4 innings, followed by Aaliyah Connell and Deandra, each of whom took one. Hayley led the table.
