Indian women’s team lessens their chances to reach the knockouts after 6 wickets defeat against Australia. But they still have chances to make a place in knockouts. To qualify in the knockouts a team needs at least 10 points. which means a team needs to win at least 5 matches out of 7. Indian team win 2 matches out of 5 in the tournament so far and left with two more matches.

Now the qualifying scenario is, India has to win both the remaining matches and reach upto 8 points (Against Bangladesh on 22 March and against South Africa on 27 March) with a good net run rate. Because, along with India England, Bangladesh and New Zealand are also in the race to qualify on 8 points. So, later net run-rate will come into play. Therefore, India has to maintain a better run rate.

Points India have to tick to qualify

    • Win the two remaining matches against Bangladesh and England.
    • Have better Run-rate then England, Bangladesh and New Zealand

India’s position on the Points table

India is in the 4th position in the points table. With 4 points and a net run-rate of 0.456. New Zealand also has 4 points but it’s run-rate is -0.216 that is why India is one up than New Zealand. Despite the fact that both have the same points.

    Teams already qualified for Knockouts

After defeating India at, Eden Park. Australia is qualified for the knockouts. Australia won 5 out of 5 matches and stand in number one position on the points table with 10 points and a run-rate of 1.424.

South Africa is not qualified yet. But, they are also unbeatable in the world cup yet. They won 4 out of 4 matches and have 8 points and a run-rate of 0.226. It is very clear that South Africa will easily qualify for knockouts. They need to win 1 match out of 3.
