ICC announces the prize money for T20 World Cup 2022 winners. The T20 World Cup 2022 is around the corner. Australia is going to host the world cup in October. Many have already announced it to their world cup squad. Now ICC announces the winner’s prize money. ICC- International Cricket Council announces that the winners of T20 World Cup 2022 are going to take prize money of US $1.6 million.
While runner-ups will take $800,000 and semi-finalist $400,000. 16 teams are going to participate in the tournament on October 16 the tournament will be played in two rounds.
Teams are divided into two groups for ICC tournament- groups A and B. The winners of group A and group B will receive $40000 each as winners of the first round.
Group A includes Namibia, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, and UAE. Group B includes the West Indies, Ireland, Zimbabwe, and Scotland.
The top two teams from each group are going to qualify for the round of Super 12 that are going to join the top 10 teams. The top 10 teams in the super 12 round include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Australia, Pakistan, and South Africa. In the super 12 rounds, each winning match will give a team $40000. In addition, 8 teams will exit from the super 12 stages to move into the next round. These 8 teams are going to receive $70000 each.
The total prize money of the tournament announced by ICC is 5.6 million. The prize money is similar to the 2021 edition of the ICC tournament.
