The upcoming tournament launch was done at the backdrop of the Yarra River. The trophy received the blessings of former as well as current international stars.

    Australian international stars:

    • Aaron Finch
    • Georgia Wareham
    • Tayla Vlaeminck

Along with other cricket legends like:

Teamed up with other personalities from Australia for the launch of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour driven by Nissan.

The tournament is all set to feature the best pool of men’s cricketers from 16 nations. It includes the Australian team under the captaincy of Aaron Finch. He is determined to win the title on their home soil. Well, it is also the first time that this men’s tournament will get hosted in Australia.

Finch accepted the challenge from the remaining 15 other teams who will visit Australia and said that this tournament is crucial to ensure Australia’s chances.

“It’s an exciting time for cricket with so many world-class teams coming out to play all around the country. Now that there are just 100 days to go, you can feel the excitement building among the team about the prospect of playing in a home World Cup in front of our fans.

“In a World Cup, every game is a tough game, and anyone can beat anyone on their day and so the white-ball cricket we’ve got coming up over the next couple of months is going to be crucial to make sure we are ready to come to the first ball of the World Cup in October,” Finch said

In addition to the event in Melbourne, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour, sponsored by Nissan, launched the iconic trophy. The Trophy will travel across four continents before it returns to Geelong on 16th October, right before the tournament starts.

Geoff Allardice, the ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice mentioned that this tour and the T20I format break new grounds for international cricket.

Geoff said, “Celebrating the start of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Trophy Tour, driven by Nissan, is another important milestone in taking the Trophy to ten countries for the first time, once again showing our commitment to using the T20 format as a vehicle to grow the game and to engage new fans across the world.

“With just 100 days to go until the start of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, there is a real sense of excitement ahead of the 16 teams coming together in Australia to compete for the ultimate prize in T20 cricket.”

    About the Trophy Tour:

The Trophy Tour will visit 35 locations in 13 countries and across four continents:

The men’s T20 World Cup trophy will stop at:

    • Fiji
    • Finland
    • Germany
    • Ghana
    • Indonesia
    • Japan
    • Namibia
    • Nepal
    • Singapore
    • Vanuatu – the first time

It will take the sports to more fans across different countries and a chance to view the T20 cricket trophy.

This Trophy Tour will also give chances to fans to view from home with a 3D augmented reality filter, which will remain housed on the official T20 World Cup pages both on Facebook and Instagram. An effort was made to encourage Fans to show the world where they do play cricket with the application of a trophy filter.

Extra tickets for all matches will get released on Friday, an exception will be the India and Pakistan match to be played on 23rd October. Ticket allocation went sold out within five minutes of the sale that started in February.
