If India Is Looking for Wicket-takers in T20 WC, then Jadeja, Axar, and Ashwin are not the Ones: Ex-Opener’s Big. Former India opener Aakash Chopra initiated a discussion about the spinners who are to travel to Australia later this year. Former India opener Aakash Chopra opined on India’s bowling combination for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The last few days have witnessed several former cricketers with their opinions.

Many questioned the removal of seasoned pacer Mohammad Shami. The absence of Kuldeep Yadav from the team raised a few eyebrows. Given that many have opined that the squad for T20 World Cup 2022 might be similar to the one for the Asia Cup, Aakash Chopra opined on the same. He kept his focus on the spin department. The Asia Cup squad 2022 has the classic duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Ravi Bishnoi and Yuzvendra Chahal are also present.

The dangerous duo of Kuldeep and Chahal duo has been once again overlooked.

The 15-man Asia Cup squad announced by BCCI earlier this week has given rise to several debates among cricket enthusiasts. In the past few days, several former cricket players have voiced their concerns regarding team selection. The exclusion of veteran pacer Mohammad Shami and the unavailability of Kuldeep Yadav both drew a huge amount of criticism from many.

It is claimed that the team for the forthcoming T20 World Cup in Australia will be resembling the one revealed for the Asia Cup 2022 in practically every way. Few names, including the injured Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel, will be taken into consideration. The selection of the spin department is yet to be determined.

Aakash Chopra emphasized in the recent past that Kuldeep is a wicket-taking bowler and that he will be chosen before Ravi Bishnoi. “Since the T20 World Cup last year, Kuldeep has only appeared in two games and taken three wickets. However, he took 21 wickets in 14 matches during the IPL.”

“Go for a bowler with variations if you are looking for a wicket-taking bowler. If Ravi Bishnoi and Kuldeep are competing, I will favor the Chinaman bowler,” he continued.

“Chahal’s name should have been in the last year’s T20 World Cup squad, but it was not. You all were surprised and so was I. Rather, it was shocking for me. Following the exit before the knockouts, it was clear that playing Yuzi in the T20s is a must. He has taken 16 wickets in 13 games for India and averages 18.6; that means he’s very good,” Chopra said.

Aakash Chopra concluded and said, “If India is looking for wicket-takers, Jadeja, Axar, and Ashwin are not the players. Yuzi, Kuldeep, and Bishnoi can get you wickets.”

The eighth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is coming soon for 2022. The eighth edition will be held in Australia from October 16 to November 13, 2022.
