Following an investigation by the Cricket Australia Integrity Unit, the Sydney Thunder have terminated Fazalhaq Farooqi’s contract immediately.
On Fox Cricket, Fox Sports News reporter Drew Jones stated, “Breaking news Fazalhaq Farooqi, who has been such a star for the Thunder .
This stems from an incident that occurred on Thursday.
They haven’t said exactly what happened, but Cricket Australia’s code of conduct commissioner has ruled that he broke the organization’s rules.

The Thunder have not yet settled on a replacement player
As a replacement for David Willey, who withdrew from the tournament, Farooqi was signed in November.
In the four games Thunder has played thus far, he has been in the starting lineup.

Cricket Australia issued a brief statement regarding the contract termination.
In a statement, CA said, “Sydney Thunder have terminated the contract of Fazalhaq Farooqi, a move supported by Cricket Australia.”
The Thunder decided to end the player’s contract following that investigation, a hearing, and a ruling by a CA Conduct Commissioner.
Between the incident and today’s announcement that Farooqi’s contract would be terminated, he continued to play three games for the Thunder.
The Thunder made international headlines on Friday, the day after the incident, when they were bowled out for 15 by the Adelaide Strikers.
Farooqi contributed one run and was the not out batter when the innings came to an end in the sixth over.
He had just scored 3-20 with the ball earlier.
After that, Farooqi lost both matches against the Strikers and the Melbourne Renegades without scoring a wicket.
As a replacement for the Thunder’s top draft pick, David Willey, who withdrew from the tournament in the middle of November, he had been signed to a nine-game contract.
