In the wake of India’s defeat by Sri Lanka, Harbhajan Singh raises four pressing concerns to Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid, and the selection committee. In the 2022 Asia Cup, Sri Lanka, led by Dasun Shanaka, shocked the world by beating Team India in the third match of the Super 4 stage at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday. This was a huge upset. Rohit Sharma and his team won the last Asia Cup. But they are now on the verge of being kicked out after their shocking loss to the Lankans.
In an explosive tweet, legendary Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh asked captain Rohit, head coach Rahul Dravid, and the Team India selectors four tough questions. This was after India lost again in the Super 4 phase of the Asia Cup 2022. After India’s disappointing loss to Sri Lanka, the former Indian spinner posted a tweet. He questioned why fast bowler Umran Malik and veteran batter Dinesh Karthik weren’t on the team.
Harbhajan’s Big Questions
Harbhajan didn’t hold back when he talked about the Asia Cup match that ended in India’s loss. After India’s second straight loss in the Super 4 phase of the continental tournament, he criticized the Indian think tank. “Where is Umran malik (150km speed)? Why Deepak Chahar (top quality swing bowler) wasn’t there? Tell me if these guys don’t deserve the chances ?? Why Dinesh Karthik don’t get chances consistently?? Disappointing,” Harbhajan said in his tweet.
Rohit-led Team India wanted to get back on track. This was after Pakistan beat the defending champions in the first Super 4 match. They did this at the same venue on Sunday. In the Super 4 match between India and Sri Lanka, India batted first. They put up a challenging score of 173-8 after 20 overs. Rohit, the team’s captain, hit 72 runs off 41 balls, and Suryakumar Yadav added 34 runs quickly off 29 balls. However, opening batters Pathum Nissanka (52) and Kusal Mendis (57) put on a show that evening. They helped Sri Lanka beat India in a close game in the last over in Dubai.
