After being placed in the same group for the Asia Cup 2023 later this year. ACC president Jay Shah announced on Thursday that India and Pakistan will play one more time. Asia Cricket Council president Jay Shah announced on Thursday that India and Pakistan will play one more time in the Asia Cup 2023, which will be held in September of this year.

The two teams were grouped together. In one group, India and Pakistan are joined by Sri Lanka. The current champion, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, and a qualifying team in the other. As a lead-up to the World Cup, the Asia Cup 2023 will be played in a 50-over format.

Except for the qualifiers, 13 matches will be played. Six league games and six Super 4 games are included, with the final featuring the two best teams. The ACC has promised to make an appeal to the International Cricket Council (ICC) to move the tournament out of Pakistan. Which was originally scheduled to host it.

This demonstrates our unmatched efforts and enthusiasm for elevating this game to new heights.
In the 20-over Asia Cup last year, India and Pakistan played two classic matches against each other. In the league stage, India defeated Pakistan by five wickets in a last-over shootout to reach 148. With Hardik Pandya scoring the winning runs.

In the Super 4, Babar Azam and co. were able to pull one back. India ultimately failed to qualify for Super 4, losing to Sri Lanka, which later defeated Pakistan in the cup final. On the other hand, neither the timetable nor the location is clear.

The BCCI is reluctant to travel to Pakistan to play because of the political tensions that exist between the two nations. Despite Pakistan’s initial acquisition of the rights to host the Asia Cup this year. In response to the BCCI’s position, former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja threatened to boycott the 50-over World Cup.

However, with Najam Sethi taking over as the new chief, things might change. In addition to the Asia Cup, the ACC has announced that 145 ODI and T20I matches will be played in the two-year cycle between 2023 and 2024. In 2023, there will be 75 games and 70 games.

The Men’s Challengers Cup is the first event on the schedule. Ten teams will be competing for supremacy, including Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Bhutan, China, Myanmar, the Maldives, Thailand, and Iran. There will be eight teams in each region in the tournament.
