Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who was injured in a car accident, will not be able to play in the four-Test series against Australia. For this series to be held in February, the team selection committee will have to find a replacement for Pant.

Currently, the names that are considered to be ahead in the race are… KS Bharat, Sanju Samson, Ishaan Kishan, and Upendra Kumar.

Regarding Pant’s fitness, sports medicine expert Dr. Rajat Jangid said on Saturday that Pant’s recovery may take a year. He said, “If there is a bone injury, it takes 2-3 months to recover and 6 to 9 months to recover if a ligament is torn.

Mostly one or several ligaments are broken in car accidents. Sometimes it takes time to heal. It takes a whole year.”

The series is to be held under the World Test Championship

The 4-Test series against Australia starting on February 9 is part of the World Test Championship. This series is very important for Team India in terms of making a place in the World Test Championship.

Team India is currently at number two in the World Test Championship rankings. While Australia ranks first.

Four players can be an alternative to Pant

According to media reports, the selection committee has Sanju Samson, Ishaan Kishan, KS Bharat, and Upendra Kumar as options. Bharat and Upendra Kumar are members of the India A team.

Ishaan Kishan and Sanju Samson have made their ODI and T20 debuts for India. Below you can see the details of the performance of the potential contenders.

Sanju Samson has scored 315 runs in 11 ODIs at an average of 66.0. Whereas in 16 T20 matches, he scored runs at an average of 21.14. Ishaan Kishan recently scored a double century in the ODI match against Bangladesh. He has scored 426 runs in 10 ODIs at an average of 53. And his run rate in 21 T20 matches is 29.45.

Pant underwent plastic surgery on Friday

Doctors at Max Hospital in Dehradun, who are treating Pant, told me that his condition is out of danger. He had plastic surgery on his face on Friday. And the brain and spine MRI reports have come back normal. Due to pain and swelling in the knee and ankle, an MRI of these organs will be done on Sunday.

The accident happened while going from Delhi to Roorkee.

Pant met with an accident on Thursday while going from Delhi to his home in Roorkee. He himself was driving his Mercedes. He narrowly escaped this accident. Rishabh has got injuries in 5 places.

These include the forehead, the wrist of the right hand, the knee, the ankle, and the thumb of the right leg. Knee, ankle, and wrist injuries are important because the use of these areas is crucial for wicket-keeping.
