After suffering consecutive defeats in the 50-over format against Bangladesh and New Zealand, the hosts will attempt to win the ODI series in the second match. India defeated Sri Lanka by a score of 2-1 in the opening match of the Sri Lanka Tour of India, a three-match T20I series. In the first of three one-day international series matches, India defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in Guwahati on Tuesday.
Virat Kohli scored a brilliant century. In his 87-ball performance, Virat Kohli scored 113 runs, hitting 12 fours and a six. The former captain surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s all-time record by four runs with his 45th ODI hundred. India’s first-innings score was 373-7, thanks to the efforts of Shubman Gill and Captain Rohit Sharma.
Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka scored an unbeaten 108 and opener Pathum Nissanka a solid 72 in response, but the visitors were unable to reach the big score. The other bowlers, with the exception of Axar Patel, picked up one wicket each, with Umran Malik and Mohammed Siraj each taking three and two wickets.
Pathum Nissanka, Sri Lanka’s opener, also scored 72 in the first ODI between Sri Lanka and India. With an opening stand of 143, Rohit Sharma (83 off 67 balls) and Shubman Gill (70 off 60 balls) laid a strong foundation for the next batter.
With 113 runs off 87 balls, Virat Kohli joined the party, bringing India’s total to 373/7. In the first ODI between Sri Lanka and India, Kasun Rajitha took three wickets for Sri Lanka but let in 88 runs.
