India Won The Title For The Seventh Time, Beat Sri Lanka By 8 Wickets In The Women’s Asia Cup

In the Women’s Asia Cup 2022 championship match, India defeated Sri Lanka by an eight-wicket margin to win the championship for the seventh time. Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first in the championship game, however this choice was utterly incorrect as the squad could only muster 65 runs.

The most impressive Indian bowler was Renuka Singh Thakur, who claimed three wickets for five runs in three overs. Prior to the final, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had stated, “This competition is a platform where you can test your limitations and what sort of cricket you want to play.”

have consistently challenged themselves and placed pressure on themselves. We attempted a lot of combinations because we had to because the World Cup is also approaching, he added. Regarding the final, he claimed that despite the weight of expectations, he does not put himself under pressure.

    Team India’s hat-trick

In the game, the precision of the Indian bowlers shone out. The first two overs for the Sri Lankan openers, Athapaththu and Anushka Sanjeewani, only yielded seven runs. Athapaththu dabbed the ball to short third in the third over, raced for an almost unbelievable single, and was well outside of her crease as the throw came in, exiting for six.

The implosion came in the next over. Renuka had Harshitha Samarawickrama caught behind before Sanjeewani got run-out next ball. A slight mix-up in the middle of their quick single meant that Pooja Vastrakar’s throw from midwicket caught Sanjeewani short. Renuka completed the team hat-trick next ball when Hasini Perera chipped straight to Mandhana at cover.

    India rush in short chase

Mandhana blasted Kumari over the covers for the first boundary after a calm first over. She then hoisted Ranasinghe over an extra cover for a six before pulling through a backward square leg for a four.

After that, Mandhana welcomed Ranaweera with a lofted shot over mid-on for a six before Shafali Varma was stumped for five while attempting a huge hit. In an attempt to drag Dilhari, Jemimah Rodrigues collapsed, but Mandhana persisted after discovering her fluency.

In her subsequent over, she hit Dilhari for two consecutive fours past cover and point, finishing the chase with a six over midwicket. The India vice-half-century captain’s came off just 25 balls thanks to that hit as well.
