The Sri Lanka National Men’s Cricket Team is the name of the men’s international cricket team from Sri Lanka. They are called “The Lions.” It has Test, One-Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 International (T20I) status. In 1926–1927, the team played its first international cricket games as Ceylon. Sri Lanka was the eighth country to start playing Test cricket in 1981. The group is steered by Sri Lanka Cricket.

The Sri Lanka National Men's Cricket Team is the name of the men's international cricket team from Sri Lanka. They are called "The Lions."

Starting in the 1990s, Sri Lanka’s national cricket team had a lot of success. Led by captain Arjuna Ranatunga, they went from being an underdog to winning the Cricket World Cup in 1996. Since then, the team has continued to be a major force in cricket around the world. The Sri Lankan cricket team made it to the finals of the Cricket World Cup in both 2007 and 2011. Both times, they ended up in second place.

Sri Lanka beat Australia to win the Cricket World Cup in 1996. In 2002, they shared the ICC Champions Trophy with India, and in 2014, they won the ICC T20 World Cup (vs. India). They came in second place at the 2007 and 2011 Cricket World Cups. They also came in second place at the 2009 and 2012 ICC T20 World Cups. The Sri Lankan cricket team has a number of world records, including the record for the most runs scored by a team in a Test match.

    History

The British brought cricket to Sri Lanka, and the first game on record took place in 1832. In 1965, the Ceylon cricket team became an Associate Member of the ICC. Sri Lanka became a Test cricket team in 1981, and in 1982, they played their first Test match.

Under the direction of Arjuna Ranatunga, Sri Lanka won the Cricket World Cup in 1996. They played their first Test match against Australia while Sanath Jayasuriya was in charge. In August 2016, Sri Lanka beat Australia 3-0 in a Test match for the first time ever. Sri Lanka has played 816 One-Day International (ODI) matches. Pakistan is Sri Lanka’s most common opponent; they’ve played 55 games against them. They have won 14 times against Pakistan and Bangladesh, which is more than any other team.

    Governing Body

Sri Lanka Cricket runs the Sri Lankan cricket team and first-class cricket in Sri Lanka. It keeps an eye on how the big domestic competitions are going and how they are being run. In the Inter-Provincial Cricket Tournament, five teams from four different provinces compete against each other. The government is trying to get everyone in the country to play the game.

    Team colors

Sri Lanka’s national cricket team’s colors are blue and yellow. Bright blue is for the water around the island, and golden yellow is for the island as a whole. Test matches are played in cricket whites with a dark blue and blue V-neck sweater or sweater vest. For official ICC tournaments like the ICC Cricket World Cup, ICC World Twenty20, and Asia Cup, Sri Lanka’s kit has the sponsor’s logo on the front of the shirt. The shirt for the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy was mostly yellow with blue stripes, and the pants were the usual color, blue.

    Sponsorship

Between 2000 and 2010, Ceylon tea, Reebok, Mobitel Sri Lanka, and Dialog Axiata took turns sponsoring the team. Dilmah has been a sponsor since the early 2000s when it took over for Singer, which had been the main sponsor in the 1990s. Reebok, AJ Sports, Asics, ISC, and Adidas were all companies that used to make shoes. Dialog Axiata, Jat Holdings, and MAS Holdings are the main sponsors of Sri Lankan cricket right now.
