The player list for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction was made public on Thursday, December 1. It included three players in the 2 crore range who might be sold at their base price. At the auction, which will take place for the first time on December 23 in Kochi, 991 players have signed up to compete for 87 spots.

There are 991 registered players, 185 of whom are capped, 786 of whom are uncapped, and 20 from the Associate Nations.
If we look at the division by country, the IPL mini-auction will feature 714 Indian players and 277 international cricketers. Among the unfamiliar countries, 57 players are from Australia, trailed by 52 from South Africa and the West Indies (33).

The maximum base price for a player at this year’s auction is 2 crore rupees, and 21 cricketers have signed up for it. Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, and Sam Curran are just a few of the players who are expected to fetch big money, but there are others who may not attract interest from more than one or two teams.

We take a look at three players from the list who might end up being purchased at their base price, as a number of superstars with a base price of 2 crores are anticipated to attract a large amount of interest.

    #3 Nathan Coulter-Nile

Despite the fact that all-rounders are frequently regarded as desirable items at IPL auctions, Nathan Coulter-Nile is unlikely to spark a bidding war. Coulter-Nile, who puts himself in the 2 crore range, last represented Australia in a game in 2019.

Before the Rajasthan Royals (RR) purchased the 35-year-old during the accelerated round for his base price of 2 crores, he was not sold in the first round of the IPL 2022. However, prior to his injury-related exclusion from the tournament, Coulter-Nile only appeared in one game for the IPL 2022 champions.
In advance of the IPL 2023 auction, RR released him.

Sam Curran, Player of the Final and Player of the Tournament at the 2022 #T20WorldCup, is among the 21 players who have listed the maximum reserve price of INR 2 crore (approx US$246,000) for the upcoming IPL auction.

Coulter-Nile, who is typically a bowling all-rounder, has performed well in the Indian Premier League, taking 48 wickets in 39 matches at an economy of less than eight. However, franchises may not be particularly interested in the Australian international due to his age (35) and injury history.

Due to the fact that the five-time champion Mumbai Indians (MI) does not have any all-rounders on their roster, they are the only team that has a chance of acquiring him.

    #2 Chris Jordan

Chris Jordan is a specialist in Twenty20 cricket. In recent years, he has been one of England’s most effective pacers in the format. His record speaks for itself: 95 wickets at a strike rate of 18.6 in 84 matches.

In fact, he has taken the most wickets in format for England. Jordan is not only an intelligent ball operator but also one of the world’s best fielders.
However, the 33-year-old appears to be losing effectiveness. Jordan’s T20I economy averaged around ten runs per over in 13 matches, which is no secret.

In IPL 2022, the English international played for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team. He only played in four games and only won two of them, scoring at an alarming economic rate of 10.52.

Due to his versatility, franchises may be interested in purchasing Jordan despite his lackluster numbers. However, if he starts a bidding war, it would be surprising.

    #1 Kane Williamson

Despite the fact that this may come as a surprise, Kane Williamson is unlikely to win a lot of money at the upcoming auction.SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) recently released the 32-year-old player from a contract worth 14 crore rupees.

After 7 years of service, its hard to bid adieu to our Cap – Kane Williamson.
A huge thank you for standing up and rising in crucial moments to carry us over the line.
    We do hope to see you around again!#srh #kanewilliamson #ipl2023 #IPLAuction #IPL2023Auction #iplretention pic.twitter.com/77WlY10TPi

    — Monk (@SRH_Monks) November 15, 2022

Williamson, one of the best batters in the world in terms of technique, has had his moments playing T20 cricket.

In 2018, the Orange cap went to the Kiwi captain, who scored 735 runs at an average of 52.50 and a strike rate of 142.44 for the Hyderabad-based team. He even put on a masterful inning against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2021 final, scoring 85 off 48 balls.

However, Williamson’s performance has declined since then. The former SRH captain was one of the season’s flops in IPL 2022. In his 13 innings, he only scored 216 runs at an average of 19.8 and a terrible strike rate of 93.5.

A player who likes to wait for his opportunity prior to speeding up, Williamson can be an ideal anchor in a T20 side. Nevertheless, the majority of IPL teams have already filled their top-order positions.

Hyderabad, which has some batting department shopping to do, will probably be the only franchise interested in investing in the right-hander.
Additionally, they are the only team without an official skipper, so signing Williamson for a much lower salary than last year might prove to be a wise financial decision.
