Women’s Indian Premier League is happening which is one of the most happening and awaited tournaments. It is for the first time ever that IPL is going to be hosted for women.
It is the inaugural season for IPL women in the tournament. The fixtures are starting to take off in March 2023 with the 5 teams for season 1.
The Women’s IPL will be starting off before Men’s IPL. As per the BCCI, the tournament will be featuring 20 league games in the event where the teams will be playing with each for two times.
The team ruling the point table will be marking their entry directly into the finals for the season. The teams in the third and the Second position will be battling out in the Eliminator round for entry into the finals.
IPL women’s Inaugural Season is To take place in 2023 with 5 teams
Every team can have 5 or fewer players in the team from overseas in the playing eleven of the event. BCCI issued a note stating that to have a good balance of domestic and international players and to have a competitive team, they have to tentatively decide to have five teams for the Women’s IPL,
Every team can have 18 players whereas no team can have more than 6 overseas players in the tournament.
Adding further the note says, there are not going to be more than five overseas players four will be from the Full members of the ICC and one from the Associate Members of the ICC will be a part of the playing XI of every team.
The squad size for the Women’s Big Bash League in Australia and the United Kingdom The Hundred will have no more than three overseas players and the squad size remains at 15.
The tournament for Women’s IPL 2022 is starting to take off soon and there are going to be a limited number of teams and also the players.
The matches for the Women’s T20 World Cup are going to take off in February in South Africa.
