Ishan Kishan is the fourth Indian to score a double-digit number. He was on the elite list along with Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag, and Sachin Tendulkar.
With just 126 balls, India batsman Ishan Kishan scored the quickest double century in a men’s one-day international on Saturday.
The former West Indies batsman Chris Gayle held the previous record, which was reached by the southpaw in 138 balls against Zimbabwe in the 2015 World Cup.
Kishan took over for the regular captain Rohit Sharma, who was out with a thumb injury in the second match against Bangladesh. He scored 210 runs out of 131 balls. There were 24 fours and ten sixes in his knock. The fastest and youngest person to accomplish the feat was the 24-year-old. The elite list also included Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag, and Sachin Tendulkar. The only batter in the ODI who has scored three double-hundreds is Rohit Sharma.
Since Rohit Sharma’s 119 against Australia in January 2020, Ishan Kishan’s hundred was also the first by an Indian opener in men’s one-day internationals.
Ishan scored a century in 85 balls, followed by a hundred in just 41 balls.
After initially struggling, the southpaw added 290 runs for the second wicket.
Earlier, in the third and final one-day international against India on Saturday, Bangladesh captain Liton Das won the toss and chose to bowl first.
Bangladesh made two changes in order to try to sweep India 3-0 after winning the first two matches by one wicket and five runs: batter Yasir Ali was replaced by Najmul Hossain, and fast bowler Taskin Ahmed was replaced by left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed.
India also made two adjustments, as it has not lost three ODI series in a row since 1997.
