Ashwin cited Sachin Tendulkar as an example, stating that the great man required six tries to fulfill his goal of winning the World Cup. Additionally, he discussed Dhoni’s accomplishments as captain.

It has been close to a decade since India last won an ICC tournament. Under MS Dhoni, they won the 2013 Champions Trophy in England, their last ICC victory.

They lost to Sri Lanka in the T20 World Cup final in 2014, lost to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final in 2017, and finished second to New Zealand in the first World Test Championship (WTC) final in 2019.

They reached the semi-finals of the 2015 ODI World Cup, the 2016 T20 World Cup, the 2019 ODI World Cup, and the 2022 T20 World Cup between those two tournaments.

Their most disappointing performance came at the 2021 T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, where they were eliminated from the final four.

To be honest, India’s overall performance hasn’t been bad. But Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been harshly criticized for not winning any medals.

Ravichandran Ashwin, a teammate, and all-rounder, disagrees with the narrative. India’s second-highest Test wicket-taker is of the opinion that a player’s ability to win an ICC tournament should not be the only criterion used to evaluate them.

But even if it is, they should be given time. Ashwin cited Sachin Tendulkar as an example. Stating that the great man required six tries to fulfill his goal of winning the World Cup.

“It’s simple to say that you haven’t won this and other things. The great Sachin Tendulkar participated in 1992, 1996, 1999, 2003, and 2007 World Cups following the 1983 tournament.

In 2011, he finally won the World Cup. In order for him to win one, he had to wait through six World Cups.” Ashwin stated on his YouTube channel.

The outstanding all-rounder also discussed MS Dhoni. Who, in his first season as captain of the Indian team, won both the T20 and ODI World Cups.

“It doesn’t mean it will happen to everyone, right?” asks “Just because another stalwart MS Dhoni came and won a World Cup as soon as he took charge,”

Ashwin urged fans to give Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli some time. In 2007, these players—Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli—were not on the field. Rohit Sharma was not invited to the World Cup in 2011.

Only Kohli participated in 2011, 2015, and 2019—his fourth World Cup appearance will be in 2023. They assert that he has not won an ICC tournament.

He won it in 2011, and he also won the Champions Trophy in 2013. Additionally, Rohit Sharma has won the Champions Trophy in 2013. So that we can offer them some space, guys.

They are participating in bilaterals, the IPL, and numerous other games. “You need those crucial moments to go your way when it comes to ICC tournaments,” he stated.
