Jasprit’s in-swinging, nasty yorkers are legendary. This comprehensive Jasprit Bumrah biography includes data about his academic background, athletic accomplishments, personal life, and more.

The unusual bowling movement that Bumrah employs is another reason for his notoriety. At his best, he can maintain a bowling speed of 140–145 kph (87–90 mph). His speed on the bowling alley not only makes him one of India’s best bowlers but also one of the world’s.

    Family

Bumrah was born to Daljit Bumrah and Jasbir Singh Bumrah on December 6, 1993, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Relationships with his family play a significant role in Jasprit Bumrah’s story. When he was only seven years old, he lost his father.

Daljit Bumrah, a school principal, single-handedly brought up her son and daughter.

It turns out Bumrah has a sibling named Juhika.

A model and Star Sports host, Sanjana Ganesan became Bumrah’s wife on March 15, 2021.

Ganesan is an ex-Miss India finalist and a 2014 contestant on MTV’s Splitsvilla. She is a native of Pune, Maharashtra.

    Career

    Domestic Career

Bumrah debuted in first-class cricket for Gujarat in October of 2013 during the 2013-14 season, when they played against Vidarbha.

In his first professional game, he excelled, taking seven wickets.

By the end of the competition, Bumrah had taken the most wickets for his team.

Bumrah’s T20 debut came in the 2012–13 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, against Maharashtra, after his triumph in the Ranji Trophy.

Bumrah received the match’s Man of the Match due to his pivotal performance in the championship game.

    IPL

Bumrah, at only 19, made his International Cricket League (IPL) debut.

In his debut IPL match, he led his team to victory over RCB while ending with a good 3/32.

To this point, he was only the second bowler in the tournament’s history to achieve this feat in his first game.

In 2014, he was re-signed by the Mumbai Franchise.

Since then, Jasprit has been an indispensable member of the Mumbai Indians.

    International Career

    T20I

Bumrah debuted for the Indian cricket squad on January 27, 2016, in a Twenty20 International match against Australia.

At the end of 2016, he has taken the most wickets in Twenty20 Internationals.

    ODI

On August 30, 2016, against the West Indies, Bumrah played in his first One-Day International.

Bumrah took 15 wickets against Sri Lanka in a five-match ODI series in 2017, setting a new record for most wickets taken by a fast bowler in a bilateral ODI series.

However, in the 2017 Champions Trophy final, Bumrah made the biggest mistake of his career by pitching a no-ball that would have resulted in a wicket.

Bumrah will serve as the Indian ODI team’s vice-captain for their 2022 tour of South Africa. As Rohit Sharma’s injury prevents him from playing in the South Africa series, KL Rahul has been given the captaincy.

    Test Career

In his first Test match, Bumrah faced South Africa in November of 2017.

Bumrah’s clean bowl of the South African icon AB de Villiers was a fantastic first wicket.

Bumrah recorded his first five-wicket haul in Tests during the third Test match of the India Tour of South Africa 2017-18, which was played at Johannesburg (5/54).

In his second match against England, Bumrah collected five wickets.

During the 2018 India Tour of Australia, Bumrah was an integral part of the team’s success.

On the Boxing Day Test, he once again collected five wickets. One year, he made history by becoming the first Asian bowler to capture five-wicket hauls in all three of the major Test-playing countries of the world: Australia, England, and South Africa.

When he joined the team, they made history by being the first Indian side to win a test series in Australia.

Test wickets speak for themselves, as Bumrah was never seriously considered a test cricketer by experts.

    International Cricket Council World Cup

India has selected Bumrah to play in the Cricket World Cup.

He’ll be making his Cricket World Cup debut, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) has already designated him one of five promising newcomers.

During India’s game against Sri Lanka, Bumrah took his 100th wicket in ODIs, making him the second-fastest Indian to do so after Mohammed Shami.

In the 2019 World Cup, he took the most wickets for India.

With eighteen wickets from nine games, he finished fifth overall.

    Records by Jasprit Bumrah

A fast bowler’s 15 wickets against Sri Lanka were the most ever in a bilateral ODI series of five games or less.

To his credit, he is the only Asian bowler to achieve this feat in all three countries (South Africa, England, and Australia) in the same calendar year.

Second fastest Indian to 100 ODI wickets.

He is only the third Indian player to ever score three wickets in a single Test.
