Asia cricket council chief jay shah gave his statement on Tuesday on the sidelines of the 91st BCCI Annual General Meeting(AGM) in Mumbai. As declared that the 2023 Asia cup is to be hosted by Pakistan and sources had earlier said that the BCCI was open to sending Team India to participate in the tournament. Shah added,” The 2023 Asia cup may be played in a neutral  venue and not Pakistan.”

“The Asia cup 2023 will be held at a neutral venue.” Shah state their views on the burning issue to the media after the BCCI’s AGM.” I am giving this statement as the ACC president. We[Indai] can’t go there[to Pakistan] they can’t come here. In the past also. Asia cup has been played at the neutral venue.”. President Roger Binny, treasure Ashish Shelar and Rajiv Shukla who was re-elected as board vice-president were present when Shah spoke to the media.

Questions are raised on the burning issue that “teaIndiaia will not travel to Pakistan for the upcoming Asia cup 2023, as the tournament is to be hosted in Pakistan. On the day of the BCCI’s AGM annual general meeting in Mumbai, where BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is also the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president, suggested that next year’s Asia cup would have to be played at a different venue.

Under the leadership of Rahul Dravid’s team, India had last toured for a bilateral series in 2005-06. India and Pakistan have not played the bilateral series since 2012-13 when Pakistan toured India for three T20Is and as many ODIs. since then, both have met at world events or the Asia cup.

The last trip to Pakistan was for the Asia cup 2008, while Pakistan lastly visited India for the 2016 ICC event. But unfortunately, due to strained political issues between the two neighbouring countries, they have not played any bilateral series since Pakistan toured India for a white ball-only series in 2012-13.
