Jordan Henderson’s father will not go to World Cup after ‘horrific’ scenes in Paris: After the “horrific” scenes at the Champions League final in Paris and the European Championship final in Wembley the previous summer, Jordan Henderson believes he would think twice before attending a major football match as a fan.
The midfielder for Liverpool and England had terrible tales to tell regarding the experiences of his loved ones at both matches.
He claims that after Paris, his father Brian decided he would no longer travel; therefore, he would not be going with England to the World Cup finals in Qatar. Henderson comes from a disgruntled family.
Organizational turmoil and potentially deadly situations plagued the Champions League final in May. Kickoff was delayed by 36 minutes due to crowding outside the Stade de France, where many Liverpool fans had been herded. Tear gas was used arbitrarily, and local youths attacked and robbed protesters.
Statement
The event “was quite horrible,” Henderson added. As I told my pals and dad, it was very horrible. More serious issues could have arisen if the crowd hadn’t been respectful. Fantastic job by the fans, in my opinion.
Authorities and bystanders outside the stadium were causing problems. It seems that sports fan won’t return to a venue where they felt unsafe and threatened the last time they attended a game. It’s as easy as that.
My loved ones may have been turned off from attending future games due to their shocking experiences over the past few years. After witnessing events like those, they don’t want to put themselves through another final like the Euros or Champions League.
Remarks
Anyone who doesn’t want to put themselves in that scenario, I don’t blame. There were two distinct causes [for the issues], but I still wouldn’t want to put myself there.
After the Champions League final, my father declared, “That’s it, I’m done.” Many preparations are being made in Qatar to ensure the safety of visitors as the World Cup draws near. After you’ve been through tough times, you begin to wonder if the rewards are truly worth the risks. In the end, it will depend on how near to the date we are.
Fans jumped the turnstiles and fought with police and stewards to get entrance to the European Championship final in July of last year. The father of the England defender Harry Maguire, Alan Maguire, was trampled in the chaos and may have fractured ribs. Others were hurt and frightened as a result.

“My wife and kids have to get in through a side entrance [at Wembley], and they wouldn’t let them in at the beginning,” Henderson added.
The two of them couldn’t get out of there. After fifteen or twenty minutes of her trying to get the kids away from the chaos, someone recognized her and let them in. There might have been trouble if they hadn’t.
My father was somewhat involved, and the father of Harry Maguire was seriously injured. My kids were OK, but they were lucky. For some families, I doubt they would have been that fortunate. It’s common knowledge that many people had an adverse reaction to that, and now we have Paris to contend with.
Before the games, Henderson questioned if the players knew what was going on. Not nearly as horrible as they were, he emphasized. It was a little different in Paris.
If you go outside [to participate in the pregame warm-up], the event may be postponed. Their entire explanation boils down to “Delays getting fans in.” And the truth is, you have no idea why.
Then you go out there to warm up again, and there aren’t many supporters in the stands, and you wonder what’s going on. Moreover, you’re getting ready for the biggest game of your life. The rules were the same for both sides.
