Josh Hazlewood Will Play Against England In The Opening 2023 Ashes Matchup: Prior to the 2023 Ashes opening match between Australia and England at the Edgbaston in Birmingham, which begins on June 16, Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has declared himself to be fully fit. He recently missed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian Premier League, and the World Tennis Championship final because of Achilles heel and side pain.

The 32-year-old’s opponent in the starting XI is Scott Boland, who won the ICC World Test Championship final. In his absence, the latter claimed five wickets.

Hazlewood plans to take the pitch for his third test in the last 15 months. Previously, the right-arm pacer had failed in the Edgbaston Test of the 2019 Ashes, in which Siddle, James Pattinson, and Pat Cummins combined to lead Australia to a 251-run victory.

Getting ready for a comeback in the Ashes, Josh Hazlewood said, “It’s hard to watch from the sidelines.”

After spending a considerable amount of time warming the beach, Josh Hazlewood claimed he is eager to participate in the Ashes. He also acknowledged his happiness at having a variety of seam bowling options for rest and rotation during the England tour.

It’s difficult to stand on the sidelines and watch when you still want to participate in every game. There’s no getting around that. However, it might make those discussions a little bit simpler if you bowl consecutive Tests, bowl 50 overs in each Test, and have someone like Boland, Starc, or myself on the bench, fresh and ready to go for the next Test.

Despite not making the WTC final, Hazlewood sounded upbeat. In the five-match series against England, he claimed that this might be helpful.

I believe I could have participated if it had only been one game. However, given what is already in store, it would have been simply too risky. This positions me well if I am chosen for the opening game, and after a relaxing break, we will go forward.

In 14 tests, Hazlewood has taken 60 wickets to date. He has taken 36 wickets in 8 tests in England. He will be attempting to maintain his success with the ball as Australia seeks to win the Ashes series in England for the first time since 2001.

England Squad: Ben Stokes (c), James Anderson, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Dan Lawrence, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, Josh Tongue, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood, Jonathan Bairstow, Stuart Broad.

Australia Squad: Pat Cummins (c), Scott Boland, Alex Carey (wk), Cameron Green, Marcus Harris, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis (wk), Nathan Lyon, Mitch Marsh, Todd Murphy, Matthew Renshaw, Steve Smith (VC), Mitchell Starc, David Warner, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne.
