Dooley told Fox Cricket, when questioned about his actions following the match:

I’ve always had the grip and kind of flicked them out, but about four years ago, when India was out of town for summer cricket.

I was just practicing some Jasprit Bumrah songs in the backyard on Christmas Day.

Right now, everything is going well.

“It’s a bonus if it distracts the batters when they first see me.”

With the very first ball of the match, Scorchers opening bowler Jason Behrendorff (1-38) struck out Hobart’s Ben McDermott.

The Canes bounced back and were cruising at 2-110 when a middle-order collapse cost them 6-26 before Tim David’s late rally ensured that they finished at 8-172.

With Inglis and Ashton Turner at the crease, Perth were 3-122 after 13 overs and looked confident in their chase, needing 51 runs off 42 balls.

However at that point Dooley stood and conveyed, taking two wickets in the sixteenth over to turn the energy back in the hosts favor.

D’Arcy Short, on the other hand, appeared to have given the Scorchers the victory when he dropped two outfield catches off Nathan Ellis’s bowling in the 18th over.

Lee stated on Fox Cricket, “If you catch that, you win the match”

He ought to have noticed that. Darcy Short is a good player, but he has two errors tonight.

However, Aaron Hardie was bowled out by Shadab Khan (1-22) in the very next over, and the visitors were unable to win.

McDermott was held LBW by left-arm paceman Behrendorff and unsuccessfully challenged his dismissal during action.

Brian Lara stated on Fox Cricket,

“It’s very difficult for the right hander to play it when left-arm inswing pitches on middle and is hitting leg.”

Behrendorff bowled four speck balls before Matthew Swim got the hosts misguided in Launceston with a very much planned cover drive.

After swinging and missing on the final ball of the sixth over, Wade, who was traveling beautifully, made the amusing comment to himself, “you’ve got to hit that Matt.”

Scoring 51 runs off 29 balls, Wade scored a century but was caught in the deep a few balls later.

After eight overs, the score was 2-80. Short took Wade’s place and scored 35 runs in 25 balls before being caught by Andrew Tye’s bowling.
