In light of the growing injury list, Rohit Sharma and Shastri both raised the issue, but IPL chairman Arun Dhumal dismissed all discussions with a blunt statement.

The year 2023 is crucial for the Indian team. They have two significant chances to break their trophy drought in ICC events.

In June, they will be facing Australia On the Planet Test Title last, and later in October, the nation will have the ODI World Cup where the Men in Blue will enter as top picks.

However, with two trophies in sight, the most talked-about topic among the players participating in the ongoing IPL 2023 has been workload management.

The issue had been brought up by India skipper Rohit Sharma and former head coach Ravi Shastri in light of the growing injury list. But IPL chairman Arun Dhumal dismissed all discussions with a blunt “Virat Kohli” statement.

The franchises are in charge now. They belong to franchises. We have provided teams with some borderline indications, but ultimately it is up to the franchise.

However, I doubt that will occur,” Rohit had stated on the eve of Mumbai Indians’ first IPL 2023 game.
Team India has been plagued by injuries over the past six months.

Deepak Chahar and Washington Sundar have been out and back with recurring injuries. Jasprit Bumrah has been out since the T20 World Cup. Shreyas Iyer will be out of the WTC final because of a back injury.

Shastri urged the BCCI to take a stand on workload management during a conversation with Sports Yaari last month and to discuss the topic with IPL franchises.

You require that much cricket and a specific break, regardless of whether it’s the IPL. The board needs to stand up there, and tell the establishments, ‘Tune in, we want them. India requires them. “It will be good for India if he doesn’t play those games,” he had stated.

Dhumal dismissed all claims in an interview with Indian Express. Pointing out that players like Kohli, Mohammed Shami, and Ravindra Jadeja never sustained injuries while participating in the IPL.

He stated, ” The issue in our nation is that whoever brings in cash, be it an organization or individual, is seen with doubt.

Because he has played in the Indian Premier League for so many years, Virat Kohli has never been hurt. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja were both unharmed. Is there any connection between it and the IPL?”

He continued, citing Iyer’s recent injury: Shreyas Iyer got harmed yet not in view of the IPL. We begin to attribute everything to the Indian Premier League (IPL) simply because they earn money through it.

Any sport involves the risk of injury. Our stars in badminton are getting hurt. They are not involved in the IPL. There are so many international stars participating in the IPL.”
