Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Atalanta midfielder Ederson, with Casemiro and Mason Mount recuperating from hamstring and calf injuries, respectively.

The Red Devils have lost 14 of their 28 total matches this season and have failed to control the middle of the field.

Casemiro was chastised for his poor performances before to his injury, while Mason Mount has been disappointing for his new team thus far.

According to GOAL, Manchester United has identified Ederson as a potential transfer target during the current winter transfer window.

In the following weeks, they are anticipated to present a bid to Atalanta, who sold Rasmus Hojlund to them in a potential £72 million swap last July.

Atalanta, who signed Ederson from Salernitana for more than £18 million in 2022, are expected to seek a greater sum than they did last year.

They are now in a good position because the 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder’s current deal expires in 2026.

So far for Atalanta, the ex-Cruzeiro and Corinthians player has six goals and two assists in 60 outings across all competitions.

Mason Mount- According to a well-known journalist, Manchester United will explore a new deal for Raphael Varane

Transfer writer Fabrizio Romano stated in his blog for Caught Offside that Manchester United wants to give Raphael Varane a new contract this year. He stated:

Some Manchester United supporters have contacted me in response to suggestions that the club was interested in discussing a new deal with a lesser salary for Raphael Varane.

I can affirm that, from what I gather, United will hold these talks with Varane shortly, given his current contract is costly in terms of pay.

Romano also shed some insight on the 30-year-old center-back’s future, saying:

Varane’s contract expires in the summer of 2024, and United appear to have opted not to use the option to extend his current term by one year.

So now discussions might begin, but it must be a new agreement with revised terms, or he will leave the club in June.

Romano added, dismissing ties with Real Madrid and Bayern Munich:

Of course, Varane might conduct negotiations with international teams about a move as a free agent in the summer.

But I’m not aware of anything occurring right now, despite speculations regarding Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

The Frenchman has appeared in 16 games for the Red Devils this season. He has made 11 starts, including seven in the league.

Varane, who arrived in a probable £42 million deal from Real Madrid in 2021, has played 79 games for his side in various tournaments thus far.
