Marnus Labuschagne has been one of the most successful Australian batsmen in recent years. The right-handed batsman achieved the number 1 ICC Test ranking for batsmen due to his regular performances for Australia.

While Marnus Labuschagne has a decent record in T20 cricket, the Australian team management has used him mainly in the longer formats. Throwing umpteenth light on his international cricket, Labuschagne has scored 3,551 runs in 40 Tests, while he has scored 874 runs in 28 ODI innings.

Labushen has 11 centuries in Tests and ODIs. His top Test score is 215, while his highest score in the 50-over format is 108. The 29-year-old batsman is set to achieve more success in the world of cricket. He works really hard on his game and has the ability to perform well under pressure.

Apart from his success as a batsman, Marnus Labuschagne is also known for his funny antics on the field. Ahead of the Australian batsman taking the field at Headingley for the 3rd Test of Ashes 2023, here is a look at some of his funniest moments over the past year.

Sleeping in the ICC World Test Championship Final: Marnus Labuschagne

Players get sleepless nights before the final of a big tournament. While it is rare to see a player falling dormant in the middle of a match, Marnus Labuschagne surprisingly apparent to ‘give his eyes some rest’ during the ICC World Test Championship final against India sooner this year.

When David Warner lost his wicket in the second innings of the WTC final 2023, the cameraman turned his attention to Marnus, who was enjoying a nap in the balcony at The Oval. He realized it was his turn to bat next and walked into the middle for Australia.

Marnus Labuschagne responds to Adam Zampa’s unsuccessful DRS call in a humorous way

Adam Zampa requested a DRS in an ODI between Australia and England last year because he believed he had caught Liam Dawson in front of his stumps. The umpire ruled that it was not out, and replays revealed that the ball missed the stumps by a significant distance.

The Australian squad was astounded by how much the ball appeared to spin in the Hawkeye replay. In particular, Labuschagne responded in a humorous way.

Marnus Labuschagne spits out his gum and then picks it up again

When playing on the pitch, cricketers have a tendency of chewing gum in their mouths. At the time of the prior Test of the Ashes 2023 series, Labuschagne was performing the same action. He did, however, spit out some gum and it fell to the ground.

The gum was generally released by the players, but Labuschagne snatched it up and put it back in his mouth right away. After seeing Labuschagne do what he did, fans on social media could not contain their laughter.

Regarding Labuschagne’s Ashes 2023 performance, the right-handed hitter is yet to reach the 50-run threshold in any innings. At Headingley this week, he’ll be eager to play a game-winning pitch.
