Former England captain Nasser Hussain believes that young Indian batter Shubman Gill has the potential to become a future icon of men’s cricket. He said Shubham Gill, Indian batter as a future legend.
Hussain called Gill a “super talent” while analyzing the cricketer’s performances in 2023.
Gill was the highest ODI run-scorer in 2023. He appeared in 29 matches and scored 1584 runs with a strike rate of 105.45 and an average of 63.36. He had five hundred and nine fifties.
In Hyderabad, the right-handed hitter also hit a double century, batting 208 off 149 balls against New Zealand. In addition, he hit a ton in both the Test and T20I formats.
Indian batter as a future legend
Former England captain Nasser Hussain has identified young Indian opener Shubman Gill and New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra as two batsmen who have the potential to become men’s cricket heroes.
Notably, Gill had an amazing year with the bat, finishing 2023 as the highest run-scorer in 50-over men’s cricket at the age of 24. Gill scored 1584 runs in 29 One-Day Internationals, with a stunning average of 63.36 and a strike rate of 105.45.
The right-handed batsman also scored his first ODI double hundred in Hyderabad, reaching 208 runs off 149 balls against New Zealand. He has demonstrated his ability by recording centuries in both Test and Twenty20I formats.

Gill finished 2023 as the biggest run-maker in international cricket, scoring 2,126 runs at an average of 48.31, with seven centuries and ten fifties in 47 matches.
Hussain expressed his opinions on the future generation of cricket superstars in a video posted to the ICC’s Instagram account. He made a remark about Gill.
“The men, I am going to go with Shubman Gill. I think he had a very good three quarters, nine-tenths of 2023. He must have learned so much having the likes of Rohit Sharma at the other end. It just fell away maybe at the end.
Maybe that illness just got to him a little and his form just in a month. We take it far too short when we are in the broadcasting world. He’s a super talent and he’s going to be the next sensation for India for years to come. So hopefully, he’ll have a good 2024″.
