Pakistan will host South Africa’s women’s cricket team for the first time ever in September: Lahore, 16 June The Pakistan women’s cricket team will begin its busy 2023–24 international cricket season in August or September with their first-ever visit to South Africa, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said on Friday.

From September 1 through 14, Karachi will host three ICC Women’s Championship 2022–25 ODIs and three T20 Internationals for South Africa. South Africa has just played one series of three ODIs and has six points, whereas Pakistan is currently placed second on the points table with five victories in one ODI (three series).

I’m overjoyed to be coming back to Pakistan to play a bilateral series. The Pakistani hospitality and the fervent cricket supporters truly surprised me when I went earlier this year for the women’s league exhibition matches.

“The players were incredibly kind, and it was wonderful to be there and experience the nation. It should be a terrific series because Pakistan is typically a very competitive and dangerous team when playing in their own country. The ODIs’ inclusion in the ICC Women’s Championship is crucial for women’s cricket, and Sune Luus, the captain of South Africa, noted that everyone was looking forward to it.

It will be South Africa’s first overseas assignment following their incredible second-place result in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup held at home in February. After recent tours by the West Indies, Sri Lanka, and Ireland, South Africa will be the fourth prominent national women’s team to visit Pakistan.

The Proteas Women’s first-ever tour to Pakistan is something we are happy to announce. This tour underlines the ICC’s commitment to globally competitive women’s cricket through the Women’s Future Tours Programme in addition to the improvement of our nations’ bilateral relations. We are certain that this tour will open up new chances for future partnerships and endeavors.

“These six games will also give the Proteas Women’s squad a chance to solidify their place among the top international cricket teams. The ICC Women’s T20 and 50-over World Cups, which will take place within the next two years, will benefit from success on this tour, according to Pholetsi Moseki, the CEO of Cricket South Africa.

The Proteas have a 76% winning percentage in head-to-head matches between South Africa and Pakistan. South Africa has won 19 of the 24 ODIs it has played, with one match ending in a tie. The competition has been more intense in the T20I format, with South Africa posting 11 victories and seven losses versus the hosts.

Beginning at home against South Africa, which will also be my first series as captain, the busy season will begin. By not only reaching a century in ODIs but also helping the team rack up crucial ICC Women’s Championship points so that we can place in the upper part of the draw, I hope to make it a memorable one for myself.

She added, “However, to do this, we would have to play very well as South Africa is a seasoned side with several strong players.

Following a home match against South Africa, Pakistan will travel to Bangladesh in October 2023, then to New Zealand in November 2023, and finally to England in May 2024. In April 2024, Pakistan will host the West Indies prior to their trip to England.

The team is also anticipated to compete at the September 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. When women’s cricket was added to the Asian Games, Pakistan won gold in Guangzhou (2010) and Incheon (2014).

“The Pakistan women’s cricket team will have a very busy next year, and I am excited and looking forward to the next duties. These games will help us much overall in our efforts to gain exposure and experience and close the gap with the front-runners, Nida continued.

PCB added that it has booked two upcoming series against Bangladesh and the West Indies for January 2024 and October 2023, respectively. Pakistan will play three 50-over and three T20 matches against the West Indies Emerging team, while the Pakistan U19 team will play five T20 games while on tour in Bangladesh.
