Ricky Ponting backs rookie to fire the World Cup : Ricky Ponting believes that India is going to be the standout team in the T20 World Cup. According to the former Australian legend, India will meet Australia in the T20 World Cup finals.
Australia Cricket board announced their Squad for the World Cup on Thursday. They gave a maiden call to Tim David in the Squad. His presence in the Squad grabbed the attention of the cricket fraternity.
Tim David Played for Singapore in the last World Cup. He established himself as a T20 player with amazing batting skills.
Ricky Ponting reacted after the Squad announcement
The former Australian captain Ricky Ponting backed Tim David. He said Tim David will have a strong impact like Andrew Symonds in 2003. When the Batting all-rounder came into the team and never looked back.
Ricky also said that if the Australian skipper continues to fail, pressure will mount. The Skipper, Aaron Finch has failed to perform in recent matches. His performance was not up to mark in the World Cup last year.
Since Australia won their maiden T20 World Cup 10 Months ago, a lot has changed.
Justin Langer has now moved on, and Andrew McDonald is a coach for the experienced side. Last year when they won, the major hitters were missing, and conditions were different. Under Andrew McDonald, the team is balanced.
Ponting further added ” I think the key reason Australia were underdogs, it was more about conditions than anything else. ”
“They had a good team. I think we fear the Indian and Pakistani teams because of those conditions. Australia was good enough, everything fell into place.”
