Mark Waugh, a former batter for Australia, talked a lot about the incredible rise of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma in the game’s longest and oldest format.

The cricket community praised the veteran Indian opener after he scored a match-winning century. Mark Waugh talked a lot about the incredible rise of Indian skipper Rohit in the game’s longest and oldest format as Team India took a 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series.
Rohit was appointed India’s full-time Test captain in February 2022. But he only appeared in two of the five Test matches India played.
Rohit did not play in the high-profile Birmingham Test match against England in July. Nor did the star batter contribute to India’s victory over Bangladesh in the Test series last year.
The Indian opener had missed eight of India’s previous ten Tests before taking the lead for Team India in the high-voltage game against Australia in Nagpur.
Rohit, captain of Team India from the front, scored a stunning century to help the team starring Ravindra Jadeja defeat Australia at Nagpur.
Former cricketer Waugh stated to Star Sports that senior batter Rohit has had an interesting Test career during the four-match Test series between India and Australia.
“Hasn’t he (Rohit) had a fascinating Test career? He was kind of an underachiever in the early stages of his career. He had to work on being more disciplined.
However, like all great players, he has always had time and a touch of class. He uses a very straightforward method.
At Nagpur, Rohit became the first Indian captain to score hundreds in each of the three formats of international cricket. India scored 400 runs in 139.3 overs thanks to Rohit’s 120 runs off 212 balls.
India took a 1-0 lead in the four-match series after crushing Australia by innings and 132 runs. Riding on Rohit’s first century as Test captain.
He performs admirably overseas and has the ideal game for Indian conditions. He has great hands, great range, and such a keen eye for the ball.
