Twenty-two years after making his Western Australia debut, Shaun Marsh has announced his retirement from first-class cricket. Over the course of his lengthy career, the left-handed batter appeared in 183 first-class games and scored 12,032 runs.

Marsh appeared in 38 Test matches for Australia, making his debut in a September 2011 away match against Sri Lanka at Pallekele. In his Test career, he has scored 2,265 runs, smashing six centuries and ten half-centuries.

The left-handed batter made his last Test appearance in 2019 against India. That year, the India-Australia New Year’s Day Test match took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The match came to a draw. Marsh only got to bat once, scoring eight runs before Ravindra Jadeja bowled him out.

Talking about Shaun Bog’s top notch profession, he made his presentation in the 2000/2001 season. Last month, he played in a match against South Australia.

On Twitter, Western Australia made the following announcement regarding his retirement:

During the domestic season of 2022/23, the 39-year-old struggled with injuries and managed to play just one game.

Marsh returned with scores of one and 16 in his final first-class game as Western Australia captain. He was out in both innings by Wes Agar. That game at the Adelaide Oval resulted in a significant defeat for Western Australia.

Last year, Shaun Marsh won the Sheffield Shield.

Even though Marsh’s first-class career ended poorly, he achieved a goal he had had all his life: winning the Sheffield Shield the year before.

Shaun was given the chance to lead Western Australia to victory over Victoria in the championship game. In the absence of Marsh, Western Australia’s current performance will be interesting.

Australia’s top scorer in that innings against India was Shaun Marsh.

Even though Shaun Marsh was unable to reach his century in the second innings, he still ended up scoring the most runs for Australia. Marsh drove in 99 runs with 11 fours and 2 sixes off 215 pitches.

Australia finished the second innings with 318/9 thanks to his 99-run score. India had a target of 384 runs to win the Test match because Australia led by 75 runs in the first innings. Before the two captains shook hands, India scored 174/6 in 66 overs.

Virat Kohli hit 169 runs off 272 balls earlier in the game to help India finish with 465 runs to Australia’s 530. Ajinkya Rahane provided excellent support for Kohli, scoring 147 runs off 171 balls. Despite the draw, the match provided fans with a lot of entertainment.
