Skipper of New Zealand Covid Positive ahead of  the Ireland tour. Mitchell Santner is a multi-sport international cricket player for New Zealand.

Following a successful 2014–15 national season, Santner was promoted to the New Zealand squad. When Daniel Vettori announced his resignation after the 2015 World Cup, New Zealand began looking for a further left-arm spin alternative. Accordingly, it named him to the one-day team for the series against England.

To fill in for the guys playing in the Indian Premier League, Mitchell Santner was added to the touring team at the beginning of the England trip. He created an early impact versus Somerset with a skillfully constructed 94. Then, at Edgbaston, he was given his One Day International debut after only 19 List A games for Northern Districts.

Mitchell Santner Tested Positive For COVID

When it was revealed that seasoned all-rounder Mitchell Santner had screened positive for COVID-19, it dealt a headache to New Zealand before their white-ball trip to Ireland.

Mitchell, who will lead the Kiwis in the T20I portion of the tournament, will stay at home, ahead of three T20I and three ODIS versus Ireland upcoming. The Black Caps were scheduled to leave New Zealand on Sunday.

    Shane Jurgensen Statement

Santner’s eligibility for the six contests versus the Irish will not get confirmed until he heals from COVID and travels to Dublin, according to Shane Jurgensen, the senior trainer of the team for the Ireland match.

As per Jurgensen, “Covid is and will remain a struggle. However, we will learn to adapt, and alternatives exist. He’s starting to feel better, and our top aim is to bring him into training with us, hopefully later this week, so we can evaluate his condition and determine when he might be able to play”.

The First Goal Is To Take Him Together To Camp:

Also, he stated that he wouldn’t be attempting to push him since they have 11 games spread throughout the three trips and a journey versus the West Indies in August.

Tom Latham, a seasoned experienced, will serve as the Kiwis’ skipper for the three ODIs. In contrast, Santner has been selected as the leader for the T20I portion of the tournament against Ireland.
