Suryakumar Yadav sets multiple records in India’s dominant victory. During the first T20I against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday, Suryakumar Yadav scored the most runs for India in a calendar year.
Suryakumar Yadav kept up his amazing run in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in 2022, scoring more than 700 runs in the format. His number of runs in T20Is in 2022 is now more than Shikhar Dhawan’s 689 runs in the same format in 2018. This is an incredible record.
Yadav has scored these runs at a strike rate of more than 180 and an average of more than 40, which makes his record even more fabulous.

When Yadav came in at No.4 in the first T20I against South Africa, India was down to 17/2 in the seventh over. On his first three balls, he hit two sixes to change the momentum of the Indian innings, which had gotten off to a slow start.
India reached their goal with more than three overs to spare while he was still not out at 50 off 33 balls.
With the two sixes he hit early in his innings, Yadav also passed Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan as the player with the most sixes in T20Is in any given year. In 2021, Rizwan held the record with 42 sixes. Martin Guptill also hit 41 sixes that year.
Yadav has already hit 45 sixes in 2022, which is a record for all T20Is. However, he has three more months to get further ahead of Rizwan. Rizwan needed 26 innings to hit 42 sixes, but Suryakumar broke the record with only five.
Yadav now has 801 rating points and is in second place in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings. This is thanks to his 50+ in the third and final T20I against Australia in Hyderabad.
